[Locked] Front Page Overflowing With Book-Purchases?
3
For me, the front page has been over-flowing with purchase-only hentai, namely:
Alluring Woman, Peachy-Butt Girls, Welcome to Tokoharu Apartments, Splash Flash Busters, Welcome to Tokoharu Apartments (Chapter 1), and Spice.
Whilst I appreciate the need for Fakku to advertise the purchase-hentai, I can safely say I will never purchase hentai myself, and would appreciate some sort of way to hide any offers. If not, that's fine as well, but it seems a nuisance to have to scroll all the way down and pick my way through different hentai to find a free one.

I'm with you on that... Wasn't so bad before with just 2 book purchase on top, but now there's 6... and I feel it's only going to get worse.
It's taking up too much space of the "valuable" front page.
Having to scroll down to see unidentified non-paid content is just bad design.
Either put the paid books in a horizontal, scrollable area at the top of the front page or limit their numbers up to 3 or allow us to hide them or at the very least, something to help differentiate them from free content without having to click on them and waste everybody's time.

I like this idea.

We released three books at the same time, but only the first chapter from each book (otherwise there would've been 40 new galleries). The three books are stickied at the top, and the rest are just added like any other release and will eventually fall off the front page.
We'll probably add something to make them stand out more in the future, but in the meantime, all our books says "Publisher: FAKKU" on the front page, so it's pretty easy to tell what's payed content and what's not.

The thing is, that's the point. A lot of us don't want those books stickied at the top, mainly because we don't care to buy them. We only want the free-releases, if not to put too fine a point on it; it seems to be pretty mean to just avoid the main point and point out that you'll not only keep them there but make them stand out even more. It isn't the point that we just want to avoid them on the front page, but that we don't want to see them at all per preference and would like to minimize them in the same manner as the announcements.

You know there are other hentai sites correct? or you could just scroll down and look for other material that is free on here (pretty easy to scroll and navigate the site). Other then that, if you owned a business you would want to display your product to sell because business is business, nothing mean about that it just is. Even if I didn't want to buy the books, idc if they spam the front page with work, would still surf around here or go to other hentai sites like I already do lol.
Besides, they'll probably redo how they advertise their books in the new year since this is just the beginning for them.

What if we put non pay releases on a new page? This is a business now, asking us to not prioritize merchandise for the sake of convenience is pretty silly.

When I said "we'll probably add something to make them stand out more in the future," I was replying to the complain that it's hard to tell them apart from other content. It might be something simple like adding a tinted background to galleries with payed content, not flashing pop-ups.
As already pointed out, it's still early on, and a lot of changes will probably come in next few months.

I understand that fakku needs to make money somehow, but simply not everyone is willing to buy hentai. But telling them to go away on pretext that there are other hentai sites isn't the way either because they are still "potential" customers.

It's like a shop my friend, you got to put the good stuff on top. And not every user is annoyed, the buyers probably like it since it means instant access. So for now, a nuisance for one user is a convienence for another.

Apparently it warrants down-voting my posts into oblivion. Very mature customer-service, almost as good as Comcast.

Tell me what Waar-kun can do in this, stop other users from "down-voting"? Look, you don't want to buy it, leave it, the title Fakku for a publisher could tell you enough about an upload already. There are people who likes access to their stuff made easier, and they actually paid for that priviledge.

I really don't have an issue with the paid releases taking up space on the front page. All you have to do is spend a second (literally) to scroll down and find the free content.

This kind of thread was made the last time a book dropped and the front page had chapters on it. The whole "Grrr, I was trolled, fix this!" Jacob said he'd eventually make them look different iirc. Also, you should just deal with it and the stickied ones since it only makes sense for a business to put their products on the front page.
Also, OP, you are fucking retarded for thinking down reps are related to "customer service". Like, wow. You were down repped because other people think you're stupid.

No one is saying we want you to leave, unless you're referring to the thread in IB in which case I want to clarify that part of the community is overly harsh and doesn't speak for Fakku.
That being said, if you decide you would rather leave the site than have to scroll down the page then that is your loss. Right now this is the business model Jake wants to try, that may change over time but that's his call, and threads like this wont see much traction at least for the foreseeable future.

I want to reassure you, if any member of the staff disagrees with your post they wont use rep to attack you, they'll answer with a reply post addressing the situation. YQ and myself are the only two users related to the administration who have posted thus far is case you were wondering.

I dont care if "everyone is doing it" (I strongly belive some guys think this would be a good argument), but reeling in a community for some years and than changing the frontpage into a shop front is just not ok. Use the Store-Page for that, not the Home-Page. It's that easy. The only argument you can really throw against it is "but money!", and that would just show what you community is worth to you. And i personally would find it really sad if you alienated yourself from the community members that matter so much already.

If a non profit company suddenly became a "for profit" company you can rest assured that they would advertise their product/service.
If Fakku was the same company it was 2 years ago and we somehow inadvertently "alienated" our community that would be a mistake but its not the Fakku from 2 years ago. We have evolved as a business, we have a new product that we feel is worth something. That evolution obviously wont be enjoyed by the entire community, few changes this big are, but that doesn't mean its a bad thing, or that this is somehow immoral. It means that this site is growing and that only means more hentai in the future.

Have you been following the news lately, if Jacob hasn't made that deal, all the product on the front page wouldn't be there, instead it would be banned, and Fakku! will lose out as a hentai site (face it, Ex is always a better archive than). Those books are the best thing that could have happen out of the situation (don't tell me we can still have them free, that's a fool's wish). And as I said, if you didn't pay for it (since it has a digital version now), don't expect to infringe on the features that buyers can enjoy (instant access, gold, etc.)

There's a fair bit of hyperbole coming out of these threads. One extra sticky and three chapters (which has since the time of the post been bumped down by other releases) is overflowing the front page. Scrolling past those (at most) six galleries is a chore. I believe what peaked at -4 (currently -2) is down-voting into oblivion.
I agree with the criticism that it's not immediately obvious if a gallery has payed content or not at the moment, since you can only tell by looking out for the "Publisher: FAKKU." As I've already mentioned, I think we should make this distinction clearer—without making it too intrusive for those not interested.
It's also worth pointing out that "The Community" isn't a single entity; some have already bought one or several books, and some believe they will never buy any book. If you have no interest in a product, I understand that you'd prefer not to see it. However, I think we can both agree that it makes sense to give a customer easy access to content they payed for, and at this point in time, that means posting new releases on the front page as soon as they're available.
The purpose of this forum is obviously for the community to voice its opinions, and Jacob has chimed in several times in the past, agreeing with the creator of similar topics like this one. Changes will come, but they won't happen over night.

What if we put non pay releases on a new page? This is a business now, asking us to not prioritize merchandise for the sake of convenience is pretty silly. You know that the business side is only working because the massive advertising done by the fact that most the content in the site is free, right? The idea is to find a good method and balance to offer easy access to books for customers, give em' a space to showcase and don't make the access to free content annoying enough to make people just prefer other hentai sites.
Some friends avoided the issue by navigating by tags, but others preferred to avoid the site altogether because they liked to watch each new release and so, that shows (in my opinion) a certain degree of lack of balance. Thus people gives their opinion that it is annoying, and it's fine, for something we have feedback and suggestions, right? Or now we aren't able to offer feedback, suggestions and request support on the feedback, suggestions and support forum?
For customers access to books the previous idea of adding a new navigation button "books" makes the work. We can go more far and add a dazling "NEW" sticker on the navigation button when it's released each time a new book is released and lasts... one week? Two? As for the mainpage becoming useless, I think it's fine to publish a new book there, but I think that the chapters showcase on the system moves things on the side of "a way too much".
That's why I liked the idea of TetraSky, where now lies the nobody cares Fakku Books Banner (that can be changed by an small "Fakku Books FAQ" or something like that) we could place small buttons showcasing chapters from the books, or better the inverse, the books there, the chapters on the general system.
And as for a quick solution, chaging the publisher "FAKKU" to "FAKKU BOOKS" would improve readability, specially for new users. (A Fakku Books Icon alongside would make it look even clearer).
