How to boost rep?

It may be a silly question--sorry, I'm new here. Anyway I just feel like with all the help I'm receiving from doujin recommendations the least I can do is boost someone's rep for their efforts.

I briefly searched the forum but couldn't find specific instructions on how to do it. Can someone tell me? I'll boost yours too haha

Believe me, a simple thank you goes a long way.

That aside, I'm not entirely sure if it was re-implemented or not, but I believe (at least at one point) that you have to have fifteen posts before you can use the reputation system.

It's nice to know people are so nice/willing to go the extra mile for a stranger. I'll keep that in mind when I get around 15, your help is appreciated!

Also, you can only give one + or - every 24 hours.

The only thing I don't get about the rep system is, it doesn't really do anything. If it added on titles or did something like that, I would understand, but in any case, a simple "thank you" is always nice to get.

I don't get it either. Especially the -reps. There should be some type of explanatory form that tells the person your -repping why you gave them it. Because, I have seen many people on here just get a -rep for no reason what-so-ever.

Those are the users who do it out of hate, retardedness, etc. They abuse the system.

I still say there should be some form to fill out, and then that goes into review, and if its for a legit reason, goes through. If its a stupid reason, the -rep gets rejected. More often than not, people will just stop using the -rep, and to live with the comments, because they don't want to take the time to fill out the form. :)

That's gonna need some active mods lol. And I doubt that's possible. There may be too many forms to read. @_@

I'd be willing to volunteer some of my time to help with that, if they implemented that process.

They also do it cause its funny. I read Zandorf's edits and lol'd hard. You're gonna get neg repped if they think you take the system seriously. They want a reaction out of you.

I kinda figured, that's why I reedited and say F$@k it.

Just think of the system as a social gesture. When you say something someone likes, they'll give you a high five. If you say something someone doesn't like, they'll boo at you (Or just call you a fag). It'd be weird to talk about giving boos and high fives in a rl conversation, so its understandable that the subject on reps is frowned upon. Of course I myself had to find that out the hard way.

instead of all that mod part, what about a little dicription after the indicator at the bottom of the post.

example: This user has received -1 reputation for this post because ____________

that way people can see what they did, and maybe correct it in the future. though it would surely get reasons like "i hate ur face" or "your stooped".

I agree, there should be a system implicated like this. I guess only if people take the whole rep system serious enough. Haha Zandorf I saw your first post with like 50 edits; don't worry about it, you're not the only one. I got repped up and down like 30 times in this thread alone. Whatever, doesn't really mean anything.

I'll just stick to "thank yous" in the future, I appreciate everyone's feedback!
