Is this an example of spamming?
0
I've seen posts that are just things like "We have ___ threads about this," or "This is old," or just faces or LOL's to reply to said posts. Would those be examples of spam, or are those things okay?
0
It depends, I think. Usually, the people who answer "Old" or "X number of topics" have been around long enough to have seen it before, and not once.
But single word/smiley replies usually serve no constructive purpose, either, but they don't count as spam unless you see the same person posting exactly or nearly the same thing in every thread down the line.

So what would be appropiate to report, then? Is there anything TOO small to report, or something that would just be a waste of an admin/mod's time?

Report any post that has either A) more smilies than words, or B) less than 4 words in a post.

Uh....please don't report any and every post with 4 or less words. You'll be reporting most of my posts. Try to just report things that seem disruptive. Generally if you see someone who's been here for over 6 months doing it it's probably acceptable.

because there's nothing to say, it was effin' funny.
I haven't seen any spammers for awhile.

Don't go about reporting things in a policing matter.
You shouldn't have to think too hard about whether you should report a certain post or not, it should be that the post was so void of thought a blank reply would've served better and it needed to be reported regardless of anyone elses opinion or permission.

I think something very important to ask is, "Does the person do it a lot?"
If a person replies to a thread with, "That's cool," don't report it. Instead, look at some of the person's other posts, and if the majority of them are along the same lines, then chances are it's a spammer.
A good example - I, and several other people, ran across a spammer in the User Uploads section who was replying to every thread saying thanks for the videos. Normally, saying thanks is okay, but he was doing it very quickly and in a lot of threads. That let people know that the guy was spamming, not actually thanking people for the uploads.

theses rules don't count in IB and random
right?

That is correct. Anything goes in IB (although sensitive topics like racism is not allowed, and guro, scat etc. should be posted within spoiler boxes); Random is less lenient however and things can still be considered spam.

I haven't really seen any spammers here yet. Granted I usually stay in the Serious, Random, Relationship & IB threads but I haven't seen anyone in those that have stood out.
I think there is a clear line (at least for me) of someone who is spamming and someone who is voicing their opinions. For instance, in a group of people IRL, if someone says something funny, people will LoL or make comments. I think that in a thread is perfectly fine. If someone is randomly going up to groups and just saying 'hi' and leaving, that would be annoying. For instance if someone in the meet & greet just went thru every post and said just 'Hi', that is something I'd consider spam, but u really have to look like ShaggyJebus said at the persons other posts.
In a nutshell, don't intentionally look for people who you might think are spamming, if one does come along, it should be abundantly clear. :)

Don't worry ero. Every post you make is spam. Always.ugh...!!! I'm hurt ^^ btw Happy new year guys
and i still think the definiton of spam to be confusing coz' sometimes there's no need to post something other than the main point like LoL or a smiley (i don't consider that as spam)

@ero-sensei
are you in a rush to reach the ELDER status? lol!
if I my memory serves me right... during NOE's battle, you've just gotten to a total of 500 posts, and that was just a couple of days ago! Looking at your total post now, I was wondering...don't you ever feel tired of supporting the character you like?! I'll admit that I'll never be able to do that... I'm somewhat impressed but at the same time, a little bit annoyed that you keep reposting the images that were already posted before, over and over and over again...
I don't really mind... it's up to you what you decide to do, I won't stop you... I'd just like to remind you. Someone else might actually report you if you're not careful...lol! Rest assured it wouldn't be me. 8)

i'm not interested in any of the title (if i'm getting some doujin maybe i'll rush for the status ^^)
but i just doesn't have anything to do on this holiday (except a few occassion where my GF ask me out)
so i'm justing posting to fill my time and i'm trying to not repost any of the same pic (i just became active at Nogizaka Haruka battle (yes, just start my first post there) so i still don't now bout some rules)
edit: and i'm posting on nearly every section here and nearly 15 hour online here at one day so it's not only mote2 battle (hmmm... maybe that's why my post count keep raising)
and if i annoyed you or anthing i'm just gonna say sorry

Like I mentioned in the past, I am glad that a number of users are enjoying the MoteMote battle. Your uploaded images make each individual thread all the more interesting, but I would suggest placing a number of images in one post, perhaps using the spoilers too, instead of posting a single pic each time round. I could be wrong as your style of posting may have changed since you first started out. :)
Just my personal opinion on the matter.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like almost every recent thread has a "been done, old, needs to be moved" and that's the ONLY thing a person says. Never visits the thread again, doesn't contribute, anything.
That isn't ANNOYING AS HELL to anyone else?

I can understand where the person's coming from. If a thread has been done before, why not link to the original thread and forget the new one?
The other day, I saw another thread for motivational pics. I thought about saying, "Not new" but didn't because a few other people had already said it, but if they hadn't, I would have just made my comment and left. Why add anything to the thread when it's not needed?
That said, if the person is saying the thread's been done before, they should provide a link to the original thread, or say that they're not sure where the original is. If a thread is a repeat, we need to be able to see where the original is.
