What I'm getting is, you actually downloaded the file, and when you open the already downloaded file (on your HDD), it takes to to the download page on your browser. I am guessing maybe he saved the download page and not click on the actual link to download the file?

well, this is a "usual" problem in my book
If I ever experienced this, I always clear my cookies, restart browser or restart whole PC.
