Necrobumping...

Im sure a thread like this has been made before, but i think its really starting to get bad. Take this for example.
https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=19966
Not only are new people like lil18artist necrobumping multiple old threads, but then we have older members who I would assume should be more responsible like Shia (in this case) turning CAPS LOCK on and cussing them out over it! This is probably also deterring many new users from coming back to the forums after they get cussed out by an older member for making a mistake.
This is getting ridiculous. Both the necrobumpers and the raging anti-necrobumpers are ruining threads and making the forums less enjoyable as a whole.
So what Im asking is, could someone please do something about this? Im not really sure what, but just something to tell new people that its generally frowned upon to post in old threads if they arent adding anything of any importance to the thread.
Thank you.

IMHO necrobumping is ok but if it's a stupid necrobump... that's a different story.

most of the dumb necrobumps are in IB where dumb users will go back to page one and make an equally dumb post.
Perhaps in IB we can set it so the threads auto lock after a certain period of inactivity?

Bump for this, since there seems to be yet another wave of necrobumping in Nosebleed.
My proposed fix for all the damn necro in Nosebleed: Make it so new users must attain 100 posts first before they can post in the Nosebleed section.

Its never going to end, and 90% of them wont learn until they either read someone getting flamed or if they say "Hey im just going to wait till someone else nercos this then ill add something stupid".
And 100 posts? half the people in Nosebleed have under 70 let alone 100.

I guess so, but if they really want to make a contribution, interaction with the community is going to happen anyways. Aside from that, most of the threads I see in Nosebleed are by the more veteran members of Fakku.

A post cap would only hurt things. Even if a person doesn't care about Nosebleed at all, once he sees that he needs so many posts to get inside, he's going to do his best to get there, and that usually involves spamming. We have enough of a problem with that.
I like Rovencrone's idea of locking threads after they've been inactive for so long, at least in IB. Reposts are allowed in the section, and really, why would a person need to post in a thread that hasn't been touched in months?

loosehead99, I saw you say in that thread to check out this one, but I don't see the connection. What do necrobumps have to do with people misusing rep?

Well whatever works with keeping the necrobumpers out. Seems to be a large rash of them recently, and it's ruining the fap. =_=

whcih was why my idea was to lock threads in IB only. the odds of anyone having something so important to contribute that they'd have to necrobump an old and useless thread, instead of making a new one, is almost nothing.

I think the auto-lock idea is nice. If someone has something really relevant and worthwhile to post, they can PM a mod and ask for it to be unlocked.
I'm more concerned with how arrogant and childish some people around here behave. That goes for some mods and especially some Elders.
I tried telling Waar and Tegumi but they just won't listen.

sounds like a good reason fot the post without bumping button.
edit:
also, if people have such a problem with necro bumping, why let dead threads stay so long. why not have a time limit on them? like if it stays inactive for a certain time it gets removed.

IMHO necrobumping is ok but if it's a stupid necrobump... that's a different story. It is okay. It's better to revive an old topic than to have duplicates. It puts a bigger burden on the forum's database and makes things neater. Rules against bumping can be justified in some forums, but in others it's dumb.
I visit this one site where they are really strict, will ban for it. So in their feedback forum, they have dozens upon dozens of threads suggesting the same thing. That's just dumb.
