No more necro pls! easy fix

First time posting after ages of taking advantage of all the users time and efforts, so I hate that is slightly negative:
rather than raise up like 10 old threads every few days, when a link is bad, or you have some completely random question, can you PLEASE just send the person a PM through the forum?
Argument for making it a forum rule: 90% of the time it simply results in someone else posting a link to a version that DOES have working links. Something that can easily be found from the same database search you used to find the dead ones. Also, most people have it to set to alert them when they recieve a PM, so its far more likely you will get the only person who can actually edit and fix those links, to actually do so, if you send them an actual message rather than necro a 4 month old thread they will probably not click on again.
I know, it does ask a bit more effort of the people looking up older videos, but really.. isn't it worth it to keep the front page mainly just filled with new posts of new releases or thier updated subs? If you fail to get a fix by the OP then just message the forum mods, and they can update teh database with a broken link tag.
Anyways, its a simple fix that I think would greatly aid the speed of use of the forums and make it considerably quicker to figure out if its a new release, an updated release with subs, or just something with no change that was dug outa the archives.
My 2 cents

A simple fix would be the one I recommended earlier.
After a certain amount of time, a thread will be autolocked (longer time for nosebleed probably), and if you wish to post something, send a PM with your desired post to a Moderator, who will then review your post and see if it is worth re openning the said locked thread again.

Possibly giving a limited number of staff fuckloads of work?

we could always go with the other option that was brought up before, something like "post without bumping". All we have to do is make sure that posting without bumping won't increase post count (to decrease spamming), and enforce the necrobumping rule more strictly.
