Problems and Issues with Time Zone
0
So there is a time zone bug that is affecting me. I find it to be an intresting one.
Anyway the bug is that the time stamps on posts are showing the incorrect time. Because of a bug with the time zone setting in the profile settings. Now I am not sure if this is only affecting my time zone or not but i did some testing with it.
I found that if you have your timezone set to UTC +0 (modern day version of the good old GMT timezone) that it will correctly show the time and date. However, when I switch it to my time zone which is UTC -7 (or Moutain Standard Time) it shows the time to be only 2 hours behind UTC +0. Now if it was working right it would be 7 hours behind not 2.

I had surrendered post times to the Gods before this, so I can't help but like the fact that GMT is now functioning. Long may it continue. :p

Is it just me or does anyone else have time problems? 10 minutes slow for me, and I have to choose the wrong time zone...

Remember me?
Honestly I don't think I've ever looked at or used Fakku's clock-a-majigger.
On a related note it's 11:46pm for me. Fakku time says 4:36am.

Even if you adjusted the time to your time zone, it would still be 10minutes off then.

Not only is it 10 minutes off, I can't even select the right time zone for me... T^T
I can get the right time, but the day is totally wrong. Kind of weird...

Yeah this error has persisted for awhile. However, I'm guessing that it's a minor thing and on the bottom of Jacob and unpantsu's lists of things that need to be done and/or fixed. They'll eventually get around to it.

Mine is an hour off. It's supposed to be -8, but it gives me like +7 or something, so I have to use an "incorrect" time zone. -_-

yeah I noticed.
Happened a while back as well. I just let it be till jacob fixed it. this is pretty much like how it was that time.

I can't get the date/time on my profile to line up properly. i can only have one or the other be correct it seems. as of this post, it is 12:30 PM, dec 31. but with the time set properly, it says the date is jan 1. i've been awake for close to 20 hrs, so i may just be missing something obvious.

Yo uneed to adjust it wrong close enough to your local time.
I'm supposed to set it on UTC +7, but it didn't match, so the closest one was when I set it to UTC +2..
I just realized where not using GMT?

Technically, UTC is more accurate than GMT time. They both are basically the same though. If I remember correctly from physics, UTC is measured by a certain amount of rotations of electrons around a certain atom element (caseium?). GMT is a standard set time that that designates time zones - it isn't even the official time in Britain for part of the year.
Because of this, most websites - or at least Networks - use UTC.
