Quoting problem~

Ive come across this so many times and its pissing me off. When I try to quote someone or make a post after recently making one it goes to "Edit post".
I cant reply to anything on any forum when this happens and this even happens in IB.

At first I thought it was spamming prevention but if this is happening in IB where post count doesn't even go up then something isn't right.

Any idea whats wrong with this?

If you are trying to make a new post after making one yourself it'll auto-edit. This is to prevent double posts.

And if you click the quote button, it'll take you to the advanced reply post rather than the quick reply. If you want to use quote in the quick reply option use the following syntax
[quote~]QUOTED TEXT HERE[/quote~]
or
[quote~="USERNAME"]QUOTED TEXT[/quote~]

remove the ~ (else I can't post the syntax without making a quote :P)

It's preventing you from double posting. (Though I've noticed that it doesn't seem to work all the time lately.) Because double posting is so retarded that the Edit function was created.

Is it happening in topics where you aren't the last poster?

Yes like the others said its to prevent double posting, there's nothing wrong with just editing your last post.

Suggestion to stop this problem read through the thread before you post, not after you do.



Yes do tell that could be a serious problem though I have yet to run across anything like that.



Yeah I've been seeing a lot of them lately too, seems to have something to do with the overloaded server.
