Regarding rules/FAQs and the influx of new users

Regardless of length, we need some sort of revision to the rules.
Yesterday, I looked at the rules for the first time since I joined, and I got a little confused, because of this:
No loli? That's pretty strange, since there are several threads that have loli stuff in them, including one made by Captain Falcon, a well-respected member of the community.

Do the Image Sections Rules fully apply for the User Upload section?
Yes. This means, no loli, bestiality, guro etc.

I can understand the "no loli" rule regarding the image section. I believe Jacob himself said once that it's for legal purposes. Loli is illegal in a lot of places, and a site hosting loli images could get into a lot of trouble.

Lolicon is still a big issue, even in America, but in other countries, it is outright banned. Even if it is just made up.
I don't like it, but that's the way it is.

that may be true, but aren't the servers located in the us? if so then they only have to abide by American laws I believe. which by the way if you know the right people/have the right money you can get around said laws easily

The "no-Loli" rule is simply a security measure.
Since the average "OMG Child Pr0n" reportfag wouldn't have the brains to check User Uploads, nor distinguish between what can count as "Official" content (hosted onsite), and "Fan" content (hosted offsite), keeping our lolis in UP lets everyone at it while keeping the Legal hounds of hell at bay.
Still, I remember someone linking to a news article recently where the Supreme Court has stated, then confirmed, that Loli is legal under the constitution of the United States.
Still(again), better safe then facing a lawsuit headache that none of the admins have the time nor energy for.

I was willing to take it from Hibia because I respect him, though all I did was copy and paste from Nikon's sticky and just left it as is before the deletion. I'm not going to take anymore of this from anyone else. As far as I'm concerned, those who haven't been on the forums as frequently as I have have no right to tell me anything otherwise. While I understand that people would get tired of reading rules over a page long, a "guide" for friendly interaction just doesn't cut it for the level of noobness I've seen, nor does that sound any different from a page of rules/guidelines. Even for the average user, I believe that certain things must be force-fed to them. Either that, or they lurk moar. Lurking moar is like the golden rule of forum browsing. If you think you can do better, take my job because then it'll free up my time to do other stuff. I do this in the best interests of FAKKU, and nor do I expect credit because a rules/FAQs page is a must for any forum. Let me set this straight: I had no intention of "policing" IRC whatsoever - I believed that the IRC rules that Nikon/Hibia wrote were concise and handy, that's all. Since Hibia put the rules there, I had no other reason to assume that it couldn't be part of the new rules/FAQs that I was drafting, and after hearing it from the horse's mouth, I deleted it. And as I said before, I would be dumb and arrogant NOT to use something in existence. So enough with IRC rules, I got the message.
Messenger shmessenger. Semantics. I'm currently having a hard time shrinking the rules to a page even though it's at 1 & 1/3 pages. So when I send it around for feedback, I hope there's some way to shrink even more. (Assuming I get this done tonight. My last final is done, so there's nothing in my schedule except a nice nap and work out at the gym.) If I can't get this done by tonight, it'll be out by tomorrow.
The fact that you are happy to take it from others would mean that yes, you are in fact wrong. Perhaps I am also in attacking you, but I have also been here longer than you. Lurking moar is just that; post count means nothing to the world if all you can do is accuse others on a daily basis without having much of substance to say. I also never alluded to anyone getting credit for anything; I was simply thanking you for trying to contribute.
Semantics even plays a part in your reply, rules and guidelines are usually quite different; hypocrisy really does not bode well for your stand. I'd be happy to help summarise those rules, though I really doubt you are all for hearing opposing views.
You have said that there are many new users who know no better, so why are you lumping them in with the idiotic users you so hate? I suggested just guidelines since you last referred to the problem as being "honest new members", rather than the noobs you referred to the first time you brought up this subject. Forgive me if I am confused by your inability to choose which or whether both groups are the problem.
To clarify: you said that you were writing up a set of rules for both the site and IRC due to the "lax policing" you were saying was happening. That would appear to be policing, in my honest opinion. I never said it was "dumb and arrogant" to use the rules already in place as a starting point, I said it was not your place to make major comments about something you have barely been a part of. Rules are a major part of anything, which is why they cannot be taken lightly. As long as you got the message, whatever works.
If in doubt, it is better to be safe than sorry. So, I will apologise for being harsh in my post, and attacking you. However, I do not accept that my gratitude and constructive criticism went so short a distance, especially since you did ask for it.

hey arren... put it back in your pants and quit having a dick waving contest. instead of lining him up in front of the firing squad, lets wait for a rough draft then line him up. sometimes I wonder if I'm one of 5 people on the internet that knows proper writing processes
Reduced to insults already? At least g-money responded with evidence to back himself up, and for that I can respect him.
And no, you don't know what proper writing process is, since you can't even determine when it should be used. Prevention is touted as being the best way to stop something from happening, not "she'll be 'right". If it saves g-money from having to waste the time and effort in writing new rules for IRC when there are already effective ones in place, he can focus on working on the ones for the site, and I believe that that was the main aim of this thread. This is neither a government or a democracy; we do not even know whether or not these rules will be accepted as is by the admins of Fakku!, us users are here to make comments, suggestions and criticisms, not to pass bills to govern the site.

all I was saying was wait until the god damn rough draft comes up before burning him at the stake. move along, and leave this for suggestions to rules you tool.

a big eh comes to mind about security, but you may be right. the average joe doesn't care to differentiate between cartoons and real life. however I think that the user uploads are a bit of a grey area there. Since most trolls that come here to troll can't get into the user uploads et all, until they start posting (I assume the post count is still in effect). but I've seen weirder things done in the past about uploads.
These companies are doing what they need to do in order to keep their licensing contracts with their Japanese counterparts. That's good and fine, and I respect that. The problem lies with how their trying to accomplish this. If they'd simply ask us to remove their content, then we'd do it with no problem. But raising a fuss about it is just plain stupid on their part. I don't blame the whole company for this mess, but I'm sure there's an individual we can place the blame on.
on a tangent, I think that this should be somewhere on the faq's (preferably somewhere on the main page, but eh) so that we could possibly countermeasure another disaster.

@Arren: There are so many things in your post about me that are totally wrong, but I won't bother correcting you because I'd be wasting my time. I will clarify one thing: there are your honest noobs, and your noob noobs - they BOTH exist at FAKKU, and more the latter than the former, hence the reason behind my rage/impetus for a new Rules/FAQs. I might have asked for constructive criticism, and while you indeed gave it, you also went far beyond that in your posts (or should I say diatribes?). This will stop here because now you and I are derailing this thread without adding anything new to the Rules/FAQs page itself.
This matter on IRC is closed; I will not put anything about it in the new Rules/FAQs page as I have posted before.
I'm sorry I couldn't publish the Rules/FAQs page as promissed because my my cousin came over and I ended up accompanying her on a shopping spree this weekend. Willingly, I could finish this by tomorrow or the day after.
You guys make a point about the publishment of loli images and uploading loli material, so I'll leave that particular FAQ colored differently to denote a need for discussion. I'll also leave a blank question in regards to licensed material of any kind since I'm not too sure what FAKKU's policy is on that. I know that no licensed games of any sort is allowed... but I for one know that there are probably many of the User Uploads that are licensed, games, hentai, and a whole bunch of others, but tehy're still there... so ???

As I mentioned before, User Uploads is Fakku's Neutral Zone. you cannot get in without being exposed to the community filter that sorta exists here.
This way, content can be shared, and attention avoided. You'll notice as well that Fakku does not come up on a google search for any licensed products, or at least not anywhere that people would find it without searching pretty damn hard.
I would thus propose two options:
A: Leave this as the unwritten rule (Example: What happens in User Uploads, Stays in User Uploads.)
B: Mention that UP is a neutral zone, and whatever happens there, happens.
However, I would recommend choice A, because it's what we've had for the longest time, and it seems to have worked pretty fine so far.

I guess I'll go for choice A then. Obviously I'll make a note of it, but that seems to be best option for now.

So g-money what your saying is that a noob has no right to act noobish or attempt to make sure what is going on if they have no clue at what there doing
Also i do Agree with the statement of that there should be a forum rulez page

It's to prevent noobs from coming up with lame excuses for their own actions. Excuses like, "I never saw the rules," or "The rules are scattered all over the place, how am I supposed to know?" etc. etc. will effectively be useless because this new Rules/FAQs page will eliminate that and cover mostly anything a new user should know about the forums and FAKKU. I think that's fair enough.

Okay, here it is, my plan for revisions at FAKKU and a new Rules/FAQs page in a 2003 Word document, totaling 5 & 1/3 pages: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?hztmmrzzdfy
I know I'm missing some important FAQs or other rules and whatnot, but my mind is fried right now and I promised I get this out by today. Any revisions/feedback/comments/criticism, either PM me or post here. As far as I can tell, my plan is far from perfect, and the third part requires more active volunteers. Also in the document, the red brackets next to FAQs indicate that those FAQs that need some consideration and discussion.

I'm seriously not reading over 5 pages of rules. Fuck I won't even read a whole page of rules. If you can't make it a paragraph it's not forum rules it's a freaking religion.

I pasted them into a Word document, at size 12 font, and it came to about two and a half pages.

It's not 5 pages of rules. Let me break it down before anyone else bites me. It's not just a new Rules/FAQs page, it's a revision plan, and the bulk of it is the Rules/FAQs page along with explanations from me and other comments.
Table of Contents:
I. First revision – the about page and FAKKU’s philosophy
II. Second revision – the Rules/FAQ page
III. Third revision – changes regarding all other section/subforum stickies
I. First revision: 1/2 page.
II. Second revision: 4 & 1/2 pages - Rules 1 & 1/2 pages, FAQs 2 & 1/2 pages, other 1/2 page are my explanations and comments.
III. Third revision: 1/2 page.

well you should probably try and make a version with as little commentary, etc. as possible for new people who just want to get the basics down quickly.

Okay, so you've proved to me that you can't take different opinions, compliments, gratitude or apologies without me being a complete yes-man. Nice to know.
Meh, call it what you will, though you can't even bother to correct me when you're trying to correct the behaviour of countless noobs, so I'll wish you good luck with that. But fine, I'll let the thread get back to the original topic, I guess I've wasted enough time trying to correct you.
