I don't know if the current registration process links to the FAQ and rules thread in Suggestions but if it doesn't it should in my opinion. It more then likely will have little to no effect on the new users. 95% of which will just ignore it and post outside of the request section, or not follow other rules. But, at least they would have no excuse. Suggestions is the least visited forum in all of Fakku I believe. It is a great feat for a thread in Suggestions to reach even a 1000 views.
The current FAQ and rules thread as of right now has 5,144 views. And Fakku has 130,000 something users. That's not news to anyone tho. We all know that new users do not look at the FAQ and rules thread. With all the schools letting out now I suspect Fakku is going to go up both in traffic and new registered users. Over the past week Fakku has had 700 something new registered users.
It's just a suggestion but it is something that could help. We all have noticed the thing to the side of posting that says "Before you post." That has probably helped as well but it hasn't stopped it. Anyone else support this idea?

But it would be better if that link would be on the "Before you post" side like the request forum link (at least in my opinion).
Anyway a reference link to the FAQ should at least be provided after the registration.

I was more suggesting making it mandatory. As in after you have registered it links you to the FAQ and rules thread even if you don't wanna go. The forum auto linking a new registered user there. I am all for having a link to it in the "Before you post." part as well.

I recognize the underlying problem, but I doubt this will help much. Scientific research shows that over ninety per cent of users do not read EULAs, usage notes, manuals and the like even if they are being forcibly displayed and have to be scrolled through to activate the next step in the registration process.
Therefore I concur that it will have little to no effect; the "Before You Post" emergency-kit of common sense ironically gives ample fuel to this belief (although I applaud its very existence). People who cannot even parse those four lines of text will be hilariously overwhelmed by the towering complexity of the FAQ and rules.
They do not have any excuse as is, ignorance of the rules does not make for exemption of the rules. And why would they need one? They'll simply do it.
Nonetheless I support the idea, because it'd be simply good form. But I'd not rate it as terribly high-priority.

Like a Redirect to the FAQ after registration.
Considering gibbous post and the usual personality of the users who are about to register there's a high chnce that it'd be useless.
However having this feature would be a nice "add-on" to the registration process.

This sums up the situation pretty well. I am one of the people that completely ignores EULAs and lists of rules. Here are my two ideas on the subject.
The Before you post. box that I added the other day will hopefully have a big impact. It seems seems almost too simple, but I think it combat bad posts.
Or, before a user makes their first post display something along the lines of "You are about to make your first post on FAKKU, make sure you understand our rules and posting guidelines before you continue". And link them to the rules thread.

The "Before you post." box will help I am sure but there have been requests happening outside of the request section since it has been put in place. Maybe people's definition is just different from ours but it's more the case of being stupid.
That sounds fine to me. It will be ignored and I think a auto linking would be better but that's just me. It would have been ignored anyways but at least nobody can say we didn't try right?
Also I have a question Jacob. How bad is Fakku during the no school portion of the year? By that I mean does the troll, noob, idiot factor go up?

I'm in full support of anything, even moving the rules/FAQs as its own section rather than a subsection in Feedback/Suggestions section.

Well, I ignore EULAs too, because they are illegal and thus invalid where I live. I do however read the rules when I frequent a place, out of courtesy and sheer will to self-preservation: When in John's house, do as John says. And that's kinda the core of the problem: You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

Just be sure to make it huge, bold and red. And no more than three words ("READ THE RULES!" (big fuckoff red arrow -») THE RULES). That would at least increase chances of it being noticed.
Edit: whoa whoa whoa, is this thing supposed to allow HTML?
