Rep is back?!

Why don't make a poll since the rep system has a big say in the forums here, because I (And many others, I guess?) prefer it without rep. I think a thanks button in order to see the good stuff (links, images, whatever) would be nice:
[thanks]
[/thanks]
A small message on the bottom of the post will show how many users has given thanks like: "xxx users gives thanks to Jacob for this post" (Or maybe even the user itself will be displayed) like: "The following users gives thanks to Jacob for this post: Crax, Mr.Bushido, etc."
So you have to leave a thanks...
And there's no "Thanks Counter" for the users.
Or just disable the rep system. New members will know which users are contributing to the forums.
But probably I just wasted my time by writing this post^^ :P [size=2]And I'm sure someone will quote my last sentence and agree[/h]

The thanks system sounds cool enough, but I still think that a post saying thanks is worth much more than that or +rep.
I'm shocked that Jacob brought it back. I prefer it way better without rep. And people were starting to be nicer to eachother too!

With the [thanks][/thanks] function they must thank you if they want to see more (links to download the game or whatever)... at least the poster knows how many people are interested in his/her post (I'm kinda pissed off if I upload some big files and get no repsonse.)
Edit: It doesn't have to be a "thanks" it can also be an "approve" or (since the most files are japanese) "arigatou" to individualize FAKKU.

What? Yes they did. People were asking "what happened to the rep system"? "How do I give rep"? And several times I saw some people saying they wish they could +rep someone for a post/upload.
Just yesterday, I was glad to be able to +rep someone because that person's post was entertaining and made me smile. I'm probably the only person that'll say it, but I hope the rep system doesn't get taken down.

That was a douche move.
In a way, hereforhentai's derepping of Jacob and the subsequent backlash from users shows part of what is wrong with the reputation system.
A person uses his reputation point how he sees fit, with a good reason behind it (by good, I mean that a valid reason existed and that he didn't do it just for the sake of doing it), and people jump on him about it. Even if Jacob is the admin of the site, people should have the right to derep him as much as they have the right to derep anyone else. It may seem like the derep was undeserved, that Jacob's action did not warrant a derep, but who can really say what is and is not deserving of a derep? One could argue that no action that does not deserve to be reported to a mod is worthy of a derep. Of course, if that is true, then negative reputation should not exist in the first place, since any posts truly deserving it should be deleted or edited to remove the damaging portion.

You're saying that you want to keep the rep system so that you can +rep?
There're other ways to show your appreciation...
Or is it more because you don't wanna lose you reps? No offense we all know what you've contributed to the forums... but is a number above your posts that important?

I was agreeing with Crax. I can understand how some people feel about it.

aw, I liked rep... sad to see so many that didnt. I mean sure people can take it too far, but when some1 thinks the post you posted was the best post they saw so far that day, it kind of makes ur day that much better! Sure the inverse is there too, but this just encourages people to not make malicious or idiotic posts. In my opinion, rep is a wonderfull thing! (and i currently have only 4)

We should just do away with the rep completely now since after the trial period things seemed to have ran a bit easier/smoother without having to worry about rep whatsoever. More bad than good comes with having it which I can see now so yeah just my opinion on the matter, also poor KLoWn will become a nobody without all his rep. :o
