Repeating Threads what to do?

I looked to the Rules/FAQ for answers

But come on we all know those rules are really outdated.

When I first joined I used to report threads that already existed yet nothing was ever done so I stopped as it was pointless if nothing was ever going to be done about the issue. So I placed comments like this thread exists or read the masterlists in fourms before posting and of course that doesn't do anything.

Ok yes the section I'm really talking about is Entertainment because that's where I notice it happening the most because of my Huge Waste of Time. This issue is still bothering me so I thought I'd ask when there's a repeating thread what should we do report it or should we just ignore it; If nothing is going to be done form a report I don't want to waste my and the mods time by reporting it.

Ha, believe me I understand your frustration about people not paying attention to the sticky masterlist. But I hope you still continue updating it.

Think of all the effort you put into creating that, it'd be a shame to just stop now after all that.

As for your issue, depending on the severity of the situation, I think its fine to report a thread. (Im not in Entertainment much, so I dont know how bad it is.)

I suppose you could tell the creator its already been made, and then report it. (Posting a link to the already existing thread would be a nice gesture as well :) )

They may as well make you the Entertainment moderator just like how Tegumi became the Computers and Technology moderator.

continue updating it, and report threads, in fact if you could link threads that we should merge the new thread with it might help even more. If i could work with sections outside my two I would help you out more often but I am simply a section mod as it stands. From what I know we aren't looking to hire any other sections mods at the moment.

oh, just wanted to add that because you feel a thread is a repeat of another thread does not mean a mod will agree (most of the time we do though).

I know exactly what you mean, Gin.

It's not hard to open the Masterlist and hit F3 and search for something, but people just seem to hate to do that. I sometimes find myself replying to a repeat thread, thinking that it's not a repeat, expecting the OP to have checked for a thread on the subject already. (This just happened with that Justice League movie.)

And really, there's no need to have a repeat thread in Entertainment. Any thread about a TV show or movie will be the same - talk about this show/movie.

Well in Entertainment its not that I feel they are the same its they are the same, I mean its like Justice leauge Crisis on Two Earths vs. Justice Leauge Crisis on Two Earths, there's not a lot of wiggle room. Something like this compared to this I would consider similar but not the same; I do understand what you are saying, but threads about a movie/T.V show are almost always gonna be the same.

My report was useless so I guess this does mean that either the 2 threads have something different or we're really supposed to ignore repeat threads now.
