there is a lack follow through on things, I will agree. We get reports, and they get deleted by a mod who can deal with it. If the report was something only matt or jake could handle like a ban then it was most likely deleted by one of them. You obviously had no way of knowing how the inner system worked but for the love of God, dont jump to an extreme like favoritism without knowing things like that.

I simply made the connection that mods had the same power as mods on most other forums. My mod powers allow me to ban if need be so I figured you would be allowed to do likewise.
Just another lesson about assumptions.
Edit; I owe you an apology waar. I hope you forgive my impetuousness.

bleh dont worry, you just argued your point with passion; I can respect that.
Not much is know of what we can and cannot do, but that is one of the tools we use, user don't know if we can do something so they are weary.

All bans issued, or NOT issued, are in Jacob and Mattarat's playing field.

moderators are just mere advisers to the admins.
we can suggest someone to be banned with a good reason, but the one calling the shots is the admins

I don't really get what would make the "police force" any different from a user reporting a post, actually.
Both would result in the same: Mods become aware of the post. So I don't really see any use in a big brother-type mentality.

The only reason I can explain it is bias on behalf of certain mods towards certain individuals.
This is undeniably true.
Edit: Anyone from IRC should know why.

IRC != the forums.
Just saying.

True. But I mean, this happens with IRC and the Forums. Certain mods are biased. One empowered individual in particular... one who you'd least expect to break them rules.. has been breaking them the past months. Maybe even a year.
But that's all I'll say. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

Personally I have to agree with FPOD on the pretense that there is some corruption among the moderators, but like Waar has said I have no idea how the inner workings work and I'm not going to go dig around for examples. I trust Jacob to know the staff better than anyone else, so he surely has his reasons.
As for the force that just does seem redundant. You are supposed to take it upon yourself to report things you see, and if you think the mods are ignoring it then you go straight to Jacob. It doesn't have to be anymore complicated than that.

I have no idea how the inner workings work and I'm not going to go dig around for examples. It's really a simple system.
-Section Moderators only has "power" in their own section, and it's only limited to section organizing.
-All reports can be viewed by all moderators (even the ones that doesn't have jurisdiction in another section)
-All reports can be deleted, status checked by all moderators
-All moderators don't have the right to delete a report that hasn't been solved without consulting the Global Moderators or Admins
-Only admins can Ban a user.
well, that's probably it.
There's no "favoritism", only slow reaction-time due to
-Global moderators aren't around often (can't check though, since the "who's online" is off)
-Section moderators tend to be only focusing on their own section, but this does not make them ignorant of other threads.
At a time like this we need Users to be proactive and report anything that is considered breaking the rules. Section moderators, Global moderators and Admins will think of a way to solve it.

Im thinking theyre sorta active, though there are just too many things to deal with for them. This is also one of the factors of the slow reaction time. "Globemods" has the responsibility to "Actually" check all sections, and that takes time.
that's why there are section moderators scattered around, to ease this, and user could also help by being proactive

Just to clear myself (for myself, its bothering me) I said 'sorta active' cuz I dont see global mods post that much. Possibly because they're busy after all looking over countless posts.

you know the only two people who can ban at the moment are matt and Jacob right?I never knew that my power to ban others has been removed (not that I ever used it); I only knew that there was some error in the system.

Something I just thought of in regards to alleged mod corruption, is do away with most moderators. Instead have more Global Moderators, of if you feel like a certain section needs oversight have more than one moderator for a section so they can have their own internal system of checks-and-balances.
Then again, that could pose another type of problem with moderators fighting over actions taken in "their" forum(s).

If Gambler had the extra time and personal desire I'd vote for him to be promoted to a position of overseer for the mods. Make him the only person who can delete reports and all actions taken on behalf of the mods must be justified to him. We can work out a system if the idea takes off. Since Jacob is rather busy as of late he can't have oversight for all the mods and the site. Raze, at best is absent which leaves Mattarat as the one man trying to hold a crumbling dam upright.
Plus, Gambler is one of the few members on the forums whose opinions I hold in high regards.
