For "removing the evidence". Screen Cap, PM Jacob, Mattarat and/or Raze with the screen cap and then delete/edit the offending post. If that's too much then learn to play an instrument, so your idle time will be constructive.
Lets see, I hold Tegumi in a positive light, there is also Gibbous who I would wholeheartedly support to any level of authority. Elder is another candidate as long as you guys keep off the ragging unlike when he was OP of IRC. There are a couple others but, I'm fairly certain Jacob would reject it because the users simply haven't been here long enough. Before you imply that I have some vested interest in the position like the last time. I won't take the job because I'm simply not interested. Modding S.D. is about all I would do without reluctance or trying to find someone I feel is better suited to the job.
Plus, the potential clashing between the two of us would probably just annoy everybody else. I think it's because our personalities are too similar in the relevant areas. There is a proverb that says "Two bulls cannot pull the same plow" or something to that effect.
This would be an idea that I would support. The less room mods have for shenanigans the better.
Hypothetical situation: gamb can't do it (assuming) who else do you think is appropriate?

Were there a place that kept old reports, what they said, and who deleted them then it would be much simpler to track down why something was deleted.

Aside from all of these allegations, and perhaps a bit too systematic, but wouldn't it be nice to have additional mods that can watch over the site at different periods of time?
Granted I don't really know who is on when since View Online was disable, but it seems like the early hours of the morning (after two in the morning US EST) there isn't a presence of any staff. Granted that also typically means there aren't many members online, but that isn't entirely true.
I suppose if anything major were to happen it could wait until a staff member came online, but now I'm just tossing ideas in here for no real reason.

Not all staff is from the US... I think Matt and Teclo are from the UK, and Kaimax from the Philippines (?), so technically, it's not like all staff members are from the same time zone and only active at the same time.

No, I know, but even then it seems like there isn't much, if any, mod activity at those times. I might be entirely wrong though since I can't see who is online, like I said. I may just not notice their presence because it isn't entirely necessary.
Edit: Bah, forget I have absolutely no idea where I'm going with any of this anyway. Just chalk it up as a brain fart moment.

How about instead of telling the staff how to do their jobs or trying to infer what is wrong with the system without having any knowledge of it we just report shit and move on? It's not like your word is law, FPOD. If a moderator sees your report and decides not to mess with it for whatever reason, there is no reason for you to bother Jacob about it.

Whether it was intentional or not on the moderators part, if a user feels like something should have been done about the situation and nothing, or at least apparently nothing, is done about it the user should feel encouraged to PM Jacob.
You make it sound like it is just nitpicking and they are just bothering Jacob over silly matters, which just isn't likely the case.

That's exactly the case. The report system is to get a post you think is against the rules brought to the staff's attention. It is not to have your word carried out as if you are the ruler of the forums. If it was, everyone would be able to delete posts they thought broke rules instead of the current report ->Moderator-decides-what-action-to-take system we have now.

I highly doubt anyone is using the Report system like that. I'm even giving it the benefit of the doubt here, mods have their own stuff to do. They're not gods, they are going to miss something. There is nothing wrong with reporting something you think is against the rules. No one is using it as their personal tool.

What you just posted was my exact statement; I encourage users to use the report system to flag stuff they find inappropriate, however if whatever happens is not according to their expectations they shouldn't go whining to daddy (Jacob) after mommy (the moderation team) says no.

Perhaps to some regard, but if you think that the moderator in question didn't do the appropriate job then you should feel free to mention it to Jacob. May not make you popular, but that doesn't make it an incorrect decision.
The moderating staff isn't infallible. They aren't always going to be right, and if you really feel like they made the wrong decision I fail to see why you should have to just accept that instead of mentioning it to Jacob.
This isn't a playground. You're not tattling on someone for the sake of nothing.
It's not like anyone is being encouraged to be assholes and consistently second guess every decision made by a moderator, but you shouldn't have to sit idly by if you think the decision made was a poor one either.

StuffIt's like you've stopped trying to even read my posts, and instead decided to just post the same point again. Just because the staff didn't handle something the way you wanted does not entitle you to bitch to Jacob about it. There's a reason they're staff and you're not; they have proven to Jacob that they're able to make correct judgements and do their job smoothly. I don't get where this sense of entitlement is coming from; this is the internet, and what Jacob has consistently said is to report posts you deem offensive and then let the staff deal with them.
I have no idea what your last block of text is trying to construe, as it contradicts itself.

I don't know what you want me to say. I think I've made my point as clear as I can think to make it. I don't have anything further to say.

Question is who can be trusted the most that won't abuse power if given said responsibilities.
I'm not saying that mods are abusive of power.

Which is exactly what I do and what I will continue to do until I have faith in the moderators.

good way to alienate the current staff then...I'm sure the others are not as offended as you by the idea that I desire a second opinion from the owner to clarify the rules. If Jacob says something is Kosher then I drop the subject and go on about my business. If Jacob says something is against the rules and reports go ignored. I contact Jacob.
Simple as that, nothing personal.

It isn't like this is some personal matter. I'm with FPOD on this. I've rarely reported myself because I rarely venture into IB where a lot of these are in question, and often choose to just avoid the others that happen to pop-up in other boards, but if I feel like nothing had been done about it I'll report it.

you're wrong. I can guarantee other moderators don't like you going around our backs because you don't like how we do things.
