Suggestions for manga section

First off I'd like to say that it is already amazing - most hentai sites are sordid, terribly organized, Web 1.0 affairs. In contrast, the manga section here is beautifully organized and categorized. And the recent redesign brought a plethora of improvements. That being said, every site can get better, and we all want Fakku to stay the best :D Thus here are some humble suggestions.

For the manga information pages - here are a few more possible info fields that could be useful: Whether it is censored or not, whether it is full colour, partial colour, or B&W, and a standard page's resolution.

An improved search that allows you to sort results by prioritized criteria. E.g. I want to search for good, translated Code Geass doujins. Thus I'd want to sort the search results for "Code Geass" by language first followed by most favourites. Currently you can only sort that list by one criterion at a time. Search modifiers that can be entered into the search field would be good for experienced users in a hurry. :)

Improvement to chapter management. E.g. a chapter of Tayu Tayu has no links to the others. The Related Manga is unreliable at best. There are a few possible alternatives: replace the generic "Original Work" with the tankobon name, or a new tab next to Information called Other Chapters, or, once a tankobon has been fully translated, a removal of individual chapters and a repost of the volume as a single manga entry.

Definitive version. Many scanlators work independently of each other, and not being aware of what the others are doing, often translate the same manga, creating duplicates. Scans of different quality and resolution. Decensored versions. Completion of a tankobon. After a certain manga has been posted on Fakku, better or more complete versions may emerge online. It's not easy to keep up with these re-releases, scattered across dozens of scanlator's sites and blogs. So let the community help: people can offer a link to a definitive version of the manga, to replace the entry on Fakku (maybe with a rep requirement, to prevent people from wasting your time). This new version could pend mod approval and/or popular vote before being reuploaded.

And now that I think of it... user uploads directly to the manga section. Okay, admittedly this has a bajillion potential problems. But it also has huge advantages over trawling the messy User Uploads forum.

well there used to be the option of sorting doujins by color..it's been removed ever since the server change. That's been brought to the attention of Jacob so I dunno if it will be back or not...

Honestly those are all awesome suggestions. If I could flip a switch and have them all online and working right away, I would. It will take some time to add these things but I will do my best.

No rush at all, coding takes time, and you have other obligations. For a free site, Fakku is already better than most paid sites. I'm glad you like the suggestions :) For a better Fakku!

@Akanova - I still love your avatar, very cute and sexy.

I must however bring attention to another point. Assuming that your idea is based on categorizing FAKKU releases, many users including myself have suggested that tags be put on the releases according to what sex motif/theme, e.g. happy sex, rape, bondage, cosplay, incest, etc. Of course, I can understand that that would be 10 million times harder than just categorizing releases based on the scanlated work itself, e.g. color, high-res, etc. I'm just saying that though good idea, it will take lots of time to recategorize and go through the entire FAKKU manga base, FYI. (Which reminds me to put what I mentioned about H-tags in the declined idea thread.)

Actually that does sound like a good idea. Why was it rejected? If the tag system worked similarly to the -booru style sites, the community will tag the backlog, sooner or later. Rep for correct tagging might be a good incentive. And I will finally be able to search for all H-manga with maid costumes :D

The problem isn't that it can't be done, it's the time and effort needed to be spent recategorizing all of FAKKU manga releases into sex theme tags. Unless someone or a whole bunch of people are willing to do it, it's way too much hassle. I've never gone over FAKKU's library of manga, but I can imagine there being over 1000+ works in there... you wanna try and categorize that according to sexual themes? Unless, if someone can implement a system where we can categorize the releases ourselves based on sexual content, then maybe it would work. I fear that that kind of system would not only be hard to implement, but it could potentially be useless if users abuse said system or aren't careful enough and skipping over some sexual themes.

I originally planned to include a tag system with the new design, but I had to rush releasing the new design and it was one of the things I didn't have time to finish. It's possible that I will add it sometime in the future, but there are just too many more important things that have to come first.

Hey, no rush man, just do your thing. Make sure to reflect back on the declined ideas/known bugs thread from time to time.
