.swf's
0
I've noticed this with Zak's threads and some random posts around the forums.
Whenever a .swf is posted, the page won't load past that post. None of the comments after than show up, or the page format completely breaks. The post with the .swf is unquotable.
1) Does this happen to anyone else?
2) Are .swf's allowed to be posted?
3) Is there any plans to fix this?

I experienced this issue on Zak's thread numerous times and always thought it was my browser or FAKKU that were going haywire on me. Never would have thought to think of the .swf to be the cause of it. But it seems the mods might not be aware of this problem most likely.

You guys should try using the add-on for Firefox "Flash-block". It's pretty good. It blocks all Flash contents from loading, blocking the content and replacing it with an "F". So if you want to look at it, just click the "F" and it'll appear.

Perhaps it's your internet speed, since swf's take a bit of time to load, a poor internet connection can screw things up.

This thread is an example of one which breaks, correct?
No, it appears to work fine with IE7/FF3.5/GC.
Yes, albeit only via the youtube bbcode tag.
Can't fix what ain't broke. What version of IE are you running? 6 or 8? If 7, are you running any IE extensions/plugins (some applications install them, RealPlayer etc)? Try disabling them one-by-one until you've either got none left or the problem resolves.

I'm using IE8.

Renders fine for me in IE8. I suspect you've got an extension running which is screwing up. The markup generated by the page is exactly what YouTube says to use for embedding -- I'm not even sure what I could fix even if I knew what extension was breaking.
In during "switch browsers".
