Tag System.

This has been brought up in the past I know but the search function has failed me so new thread.

Are there any immediate plans on introducing a tag system into the Fakku database for Manga and Doujins? It is something really important that I feel that Fakku is lacking as a site for viewing doujins with the large quantity that it has. Of course this is a very big task for a person to take on but if the users did it then it would go by very quickly. I would like to draw attention to a member who has gone through the doujins and bookmarked ones for certain genres. Aforementioned User.

I also realized that Jacob may not want such a feature to tag the doujins open to the entire general public but we surely know trusted users. After all I feel that users that have been here for a significant amount of time and or have a significant amount of posts are trustworthy enough to handle such a task. Of course the user that did the above tagging for those doujins as well. After seeing his determination and kindness he deserves to be on such a team.

So yeah. Users + Tag system = Tagged data base for easy navigation.

I think this is on Jacob's to-do list but if there are other users here who can help with the sorting then that'll work fine to, I myself wouldn't mind helping out but with college studies to worry about I don't have the time to do so.

I want to know tho if it's just him. Like I said it's something that needs to be done but unless he has some secret workers or a lot of free time it's a big task for one man to take. I might be underestimating him tho. That's why the users could get it done a lot faster. He may have had that plan all along tho.

I'd volunteer to spend an hour or so when I can to tag a few. Though I would prefer the system have a very defined method of how to do it. Such as high school aged girls are considered loli but, that might be annoying to some users. I know loli isn't posted on the site by Jacob but, it's the first example to come to mind.

If the tagging system isn't really monitored or have some form of quality control then you'll get tags for everything under the sun on every doujin.

It'd be cool if Jacob could temporarily atribute some users the power to tag certain kinds of doujins. Like, one person tags this, this and that series' doujins. And this person tags the original japanese doujins. And another tags the original english ones. Or assign by pages. Like, one user tags the first 5 pages of doujins, another one tags the next 5 or more, etc. I think we could tag it all quite fast.

I volunteer for tagging.

Also, I agree with FPOD's idea of strict rules concerning the tags.

As for doing it, I'm sure he'll get around to it eventually, and I'll help him with it if he needs help, but he's a bit busy, and already has a few things on his plate, so it may take a while.

Of course I know he's busy. I can't ever recall Jacob not being busy now that I think of it. That must suck for him but that's why I suggested User help instead of just him doing it. I know he has plans for it but he hasn't said when so if he hasn't started yet why not let members help? Many hands make quick work.

Well, the members can't really help until it's functioning, unless they're developers of course...

So it really just depends when he has time to start the project, or if he can appoint it to someone.

Well wouldn't it just be easier if lets say a user decides to go through the whole Fakku database and found all of the incest doujins that way the only thing you would have to do is just add the tag to them?

The only way for us to do anything of that nature is if we did the same thing as the guy in holic's original post. Currently there isn't a way for us to make a tag. Jacob needs to make the system so we can tag it and afterward we could all get the thing done in a under a week. Probably a day if everybody chipped in.

I say we get some tire irons, find some developers and "Negotiate" with them.

And not anyone can do it either. We might have some idiot running around mislabeling stuff like "Normal sex" instead of "Rape". I remember this being suggested many times, myself included. If it's based on the community, then it would have to be a wikipedia type format with restrictions, say users with 15+ rep can tag h-stuff.
