The function "Notify me when a reply is posted" doesn't work

The function "Notify me when a reply is posted" doesn't work. I've crossed that box on all posts I've made (and I think I even put it on "always notify me" on my profile control panel). I haven't got any reply notification mail to my inbox or anywhere else, even though I know (cause I have seen it) that topics I've posted in have been replied to. Also when I go back to edit a post, the box is no longer checked.
Why is this?
I find the function to be very useful if you don't always feel like going and looking up every topic you've posted in all the time..and I always use it on forums if they have it. So I wonder why it's not working, and could you add this to the bugs to be fixed?
