Something of an idea, something that I don't expect to come to fruition, though I thought I should atleast mention it nonetheless. I've been thinking how g-money always does his best to uphold the rules here on Fakku! And you know how some schools used to or have hall monitors? Why not grant him it, something along those lines?
If that idea doesn't go through, grant him to be a honorary mod.
He holds my utmost respect for going out of his way to guide noobs and the sort to their corrective thread sections.
Again, just an idea that I do not expect to come to fruition. Just some food for thought.

I agree. I think that would be a good way to straighten all the problems we've had with new users around here [though I'm technically still a new user, so my opinion probably has less weight]. Still, its' something to think about, I suppose.

We need someone to put those noobs in their place. I was gonna suggest a good lynching but I guess g-money would be fine to.

"Fakku Hall Monitor"?I'd support that, if only for the lolz.

Lol, that was pretty amusing.
Now, I wonder how G-Money feels about it.[/h]

I feel that we currently have enough moderators on the forums.
Global
Jacob
Nikon
Raze
Gambler
Mike
Mattarat
Forum Specific
Hibia
tsujoi
Teclo
Once the special interest forums become more active, we will get more mods. Take for example the specific anime and manga boards, when those were first created they received very little posts until tsujoi (who was a regular user at the time) started working very hard to get topics created and people posting on them. Now they are two of the most popular boards on the forums, and a lot of it is thanks to his work.
As a moderator I expect more than just "moderation", you need to really improve and expand the community. tsujoi's work is one example of a user who was able to do that and was rewarded as a result.

I'm actually feeling pretty happy hearing this from you guys. But in the end, it's the admin that make the decision, which Jacob said no. I will however, point out some obvious truths.
Bar none the global moderators and special mods, I've noticed that the admins rarely venture into the forums themselves. So I wouldn't like to put the three admins on the same level of activity as our moderators. With this fact, I'm not insuinating that the admins aren't doing anything. Hell, they're busy with their own lives and a whole bunch of other stuff that us normal users don't see and won't ever realize. Then there are uploads, translations, maintainence, etc. etc. Our admins are rather busy, but I know they also don't have the time to look at all of the threads in the forums unless something necessary comes up, or someone notifies the admins for something. It's just how it is, but we all totally appreciate their efforts because without them, FAKKU wouldn't exist, period.
Second truth: I've also seen our moderators at work, and I totally appreciate each and everyone's effort and contribution to make the forums a better place. However, while the moderators interact in the forums on a more frequent basis than the admins, they also do not have the time to look at each and every thread in every section of the forums. Us regular users do, and so we tend to notice misplaced threads, repeat threads, etc. etc. much sooner and more frequently as we navigate the forums of his/her own interest. Because moderators aren't on 24/7 since they have their own lives to attend to, I tend to find that often the more frequent members stay on the forums for longer duration than the moderators. Our moderators are doing their jobs, and I have no doubt about that and I'm sure we're thankful for it, but it's a fact that often they don't spend much time browsing the forums as some of the more regular members. That's just how it is, but we all love our mods.
The third most obvious fact is that FAKKU is now a very popular site - I haven't looked at the member stats closely, but it's probably over 90,000 members, and who knows how many leechers out there that never register as a member in the forums. Because FAKKU is popular, there is also an increase in members posting in the forums as well, and more often than not they post something or a few somethings and then disappear. (In short, noobs) It leaves us regular users, moderators, and admins to clean up their mess because they often don't observe the forum layout, netiquette, or the rules/FAQs. It's precisely this reason that I created a plan to make the site better in regards to rules/FAQS and some other few minor things: https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=11990
Now while I don't expect my plan to be followed to the letter or to be followed at all, it's a fact that FAKKU is popular, and will inevitably attract noobs like moths to a light. As long as FAKKU is popular, we will never see an end to new members, some of them very unique and respected at FAKKU, but most of them without a drop of common sense and netiquette.
As I see it, and I'm sure others as well, this is how the situation stands. Whether to do something about it or not is ultimately up to the admins' decisions, and how they tackle such problems is also up to them. These are facts and issues in themselves, but not issues that can be solved easily, if at all. But knowing the issues is better than not knowing at all.

I don't really see the need for this when we have all the mods Jacob mentioned plus people like me and waar (and various others) who will just tell people to shut up when they say/do stupid things.

I think one 24/7 mod is needed. Because when there's trouble sometimes no one is there to respond.
Like this troublesome guy.
Went to report and PM it to an admin, but no one is on when the incident happened.

I'm with Kaimax on this one. I don't think it'll hurt to have an extra mod around. :o

RULES will be rendered USELESS if NO ONE is going to IMPLEMENT them...
I see no reason as to why not grant someone the authority of doing so, especially to someone who's more than capable & more than willing like g-money for example...(though I'm not sure if he wants to)
IMHO It could only benefit FAKKU in the long run.
well, that's merely my opinion as a newly registered member...

User upload mod, anybody?
And perhaps one more global mod, one who lives in a different time zone and/or is regularly active in a different time period to our current global mods, Gambler, Mattarat and Mike.
Especially at times like this, when, uh, errr, new, mmmm, impolite, no-netiquette members is aplenty. I think temporary mods could be the solution for that problem.
I know that moderation should be kept in minimum, as Jacob says, but i think it is also necessary to have someone with moderating powers to be active at any given moment.
