Upload protection 2nd Run

since Linkreporting came to a new level when my whole collection thread and also some of klowns links got reported after a couple of hours I came up with an idea during the random thread that I started
https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=12338&start=0
the idea includes the following methodes to hopefully achive a more secure upload section one fakku.
most important:
If you create a thread the uploader should be able to enter a password for this thread.
By doing so only members who know the password can enter this thread.
The password is then only given to members via PM by the uploader himself.
further more to prevent spaming like "why can´t I enter the certain thread, there should be a sticky thread that contains the necessary information.
also to protect the uploader form massive PM spaming, there should be an profile option, allowing you to block messages from users.
lets say by using an option in your profile that allows you to choose if you only want to recieve messages from users with certain rep or number of posts.
then you could create something like a wastebasket, where all the blocked messages are stored and deleted after 3 days or something like that.
I know this is a bit overcharged but I you could implement all this on fakku I am sure that every uploader will bless you guys.

You know what would be wonderful? A bit of Javascript... that monitored the users clicks on files. So a user CLICKS a link, and the Javascript triggers, logging the link clicked and username. When there's a fuckton of clicks and users, it might be difficult, but it could be put to use where people are often reporting links to ban said users from the forums.
Of course, this idea would require every user entering the site to agree to monitored link clicks with the EXPLICIT PROMISE that the information won't be used for ANYTHING but link report protection.
Ahh...
it may be possible, and on top of it gives ammo for the mods to account ban/ip ban people without question. (like they had a reason before)
I've also seen something along the lines of 150-200 post count work before. make it so impossible to get in 10 minutes to achieve, I don't remember where I saw it last tho...

well this way just give the uploader himself the power to decide and in addition it should also be possible to change a currently existing password for a thread, just in case some other guy around fakku is providing the password to other users.

got a very good idea while on the toilet:
put up certain requirements to get into the uploads, have a request/submission sub forum, and have someone review that person's submission. However here's the trick, the people that are reviewing people are unknown to the general public. The person gets a pm from jacob/raze/whoevermodinpower saying that they now have access to the uploads, and will be banned from that subforum if links start to break in droves after that.
the thought passed through my mind that give only people with the "fakku uploader" title to post/create threads in the uploads forum, but that got axed, since I know one of the mods here will argue that the forums are for conversation...
screw password, hide the forum from everybody but the people that have permission to see into it

I think that's going a little too far, spaxxor. What sort of submission form would be used? What would it ask, and how would it really protect the uploaded stuff? How could a person show that they are trustworthy by filling out a form?
Also, it would take forever to do. If this forum was next to dead and only five people a day requested to enter User Uploads, that would still be a lot of work for whoever had to review the submissions, but since Fakku is pretty popular, it's more likely that we'd get fifty submissions a day. And the first week that this was implemented, there would probably be five hundred submissions a day.
As for Eranox's idea of setting up passwords or the like, I kind of like the idea, but I'm concerned about what it would take to create such a system. I'm not a programmer or know anything about designing websites, but wouldn't it take a lot of work to set it up so that a thread is password-protected? I've never seen it before on a forum.
Still, it may be worth the trouble, if it would protect the links. Just have to see what the guys in charge think.

multiple proposals in these threads should be taken ambiguously... which I thought was assumed... throw ideas at the wall until something sticks.

Whatever. I was just giving my opinion.

Set up a new Usergroup, named whatever, have it auto-add users to that group by either hitting a certain # of posts, or getting a certain # of rep and make that forum only visible to Admins, Mods, and that Usergroup.
One way of doing it.

From all the suggestions I have seen lately, it leads me to conclude that Fakku should start an advertising firm or something along those lines, since there are plenty of creative and original ideas coming up.
I would say Eranox's idea will definitely protect an uploader's links, but again, there are issues to be addressed.
1) I have not seen many conflicts on Fakku (or maybe I am just oblivious to them), but what happens if a particular uploader is biased against certain members? The former may withhold the password to a thread due to a grudge. Although I have full faith in most, if not all, of the uploaders on Fakku, we cannot say for sure that future uploaders will not abuse their "power".
2) Some private messages not related to the request for entrance into a particular thread may be blocked out too, stifling communication between members.
The above are thoughts that came to mind after reading through all the posts here.

I agree there is a problem with the links getting reported, but these ideas are a little extreme to solve the problem.
I was wrestling with the idea of creating spoiler tags that can only be seen by people with X amount of posts, set by the poster.
For example:

Aren't we going to get into Forum spam doing so?
Lets be honest, every decision we make, something will cause annoyance. Like forum spams, abuse of power , etc.

I believe last time's problem was because noobs were posting asking 'omg teh wtf i cantz c the user uploads wtf' and some would answer what the count was, and others caught wind of this and caused an explosion of spam.
EDIT: And I think Jacob's idea is excellent, needing certain post to see the links. Implement it without leechers knowing and ignore their pleas of 'teh wtfs'

Well, if we were to use Jacob's idea, then this thread oughta be deleted, don't you think? Someone smart enough would see this thread, then spam his/her ass off to see said links. Somehow, that would also change the spoil function in the posting.php page.

That's a good idea Jacob, another alternative is to use a different host, I haven't ventured into the user upload forums yet, but I imagine you're using megaupload a lot, try a few other DDL services, hell use multiple ones for a file.
As for being reported, you're referring to the DDL service correct? Well that problem lies on the community itself, they aren't trustworthy enough not to report. Honestly I don't see why anyone on the forum would report, unless there is someone lurking trying to hinder you purposefully.
That is where the required post/rep comes in, I said to do rep as well as post count because not everyone is a forum whore, some people only make a few posts a month, that doesn't necessary make them untrustworthy, or even inactive, so I figured a certain amount of rep being an alternative would give them a chance to get it either way, if they contribute to the community at all they're bound to get a few rep points, and if they're active enough to hit the post minimum to see the link, then they probably wont report.
The spam issue is a valid one, people will spam to try and get to the user uploads forum, that's a risk you have to take, if you don't want to take it, stick to the current system.

Also this just struck me. Make sure that you don't make the link visible when you "quote" someone in a reply. that would render the whole thing moot
but the question that's been nagging me for a while now, and just recently brought up, is gambler. What do you have against the proposed post count?

I can only see that you are out to kill half the site, since uploads are the lifeblood of the site, and all of the uploaders are bitching about their links getting reported.

I don't mean to protect Gambler, he can do that himself, but he is a moderator. Fakku doesn't have a whole lot of those, and each one is guaranteed to care about this site.

Like Yushi said.I don't really think it would make us safe from Explosive spams...Surely people will post craps in order to get as many posts as they could...
But with Eranox's Password, people will just "Hell..There's nothing i can do about it"...
