But it still better than being spammed endlessly...we only put 30-post requirements back then, and The spams are already like The Gate Of hell opened and the demons set loose....and what do you think will happen if users put 50 - 500 or maybe 1000 posts requirements for their links ??...It'll be an endless disaster....Not just 30, but People will doing it until they reached hundreds of posts that can secure them to have access to all links available...and It'll be much worse

Yeah that is true, however I'd personally just ban them if they do that, it's not hard to tell when someone is trying to up their post count. However this board has few moderators, so I don't know...
That is a good idea with the password, or could skip the post count idea and use my rep idea, when someone hits 5rep or so they gain access, they can't do anything to get the rep up, other than be helpful to the community and contribute, assuming they don't make multiple accounts and rep themselves, but I'm sure Jacob could take means to avoid that.
Mixing that with Jacob's idea of a custom "spoiler" type of tag but name it like [hide=5]You need 5rep points to see this[/hide] would require a bit of editing to the bbcode.php and it's corresponding .tpl file, but it would probably be the safest, and most accurate way of doing it.

the rep idea is all well and good, but rep has always been, and always be a broken idea. every site I went to that has reputation is either stuck up it's own ass so far they are choking on their own head, or their rep system is so fucked up the ass that it is coughing up semen. it is a bit of a gimmick, not something to be taken seriously. I had about 5 or 6 rep before I went into hiding, and now look at it, not that I care or anything.
The point I'm trying to make is rep fluctuates so vastly per person (when it's even touched at all) that having a minimum rep count will only benefit those with 20+ rep that got it when rep was first implemented.

I'm not very fond with rep idea either...Know why??..If I hate you, I'll spam de-reps on you for Some logical reasons that I made up...and There'll be Some Lurkers out there that will spam de-reps just because they want to...and also..Repping and de-repping someone will be a serious issue among users and will Causing Hatred among users grow cause it'll make de-rep tastes like shit...and this place won't be as peaceful as it is now....

There is a solution to this as well, redesign the rep system so that it only allows a user to thank a post, and for every thank it gets +1 rep. To be honest I hate the idea of deductible rep, because of assholes who abuse it.
I used to chill on another forum, and I contributed quite a bit, but I would log in to see negative rep, not because I did anything wrong, because they were too lazy to scroll down a few posts and see that I did include whatever they were bitching I didn't.
That's just a random example of how it's abused, that and like you said, negative rep for such a stupid reason as personal grudge, etc.
It would work better in my opinion, however this would require more work on the Admins to implement it as well so it may be worth staying away from.

but the question that's been nagging me for a while now, and just recently brought up, is gambler. What do you have against the proposed post count?
Gambler wrote...
1) I have not seen many conflicts on Fakku (or maybe I am just oblivious to them), but what happens if a particular uploader is biased against certain members? The former may withhold the password to a thread due to a grudge. Although I have full faith in most, if not all, of the uploaders on Fakku, we cannot say for sure that future uploaders will not abuse their "power".maybe, but maybe not. the link killing stopped for the 24 hours the minimum post count applied. so most likely not
I can only see that you are out to kill half the site, since uploads are the lifeblood of the site, and all of the uploaders are bitching about their links getting reported.
I assume you are asking me why I am against the implementation of a minimum post requirement?
All of us care for Fakku in our own individual manner. However, for myself, I always place the community before hentai. As seen in the previous incident regarding the implementation of a minimum post requirement, spam started the moment some members, especially the leechers, realized they are unable to enter the user uploads section. Of course, we can choose to ignore the spam, but it will eventually lead to the downfall of Fakku, or at least the forum.
When people provide single-word replies, or even worse, incoherent ones, such as "..." or "?", it could cause a serious topic to go off-track and maybe degrade the subject of discussion. Already, there are a few members complaining about the nature of replies in the MoteMote battle threads, causing them to stay away from that particular section. Applied to the entire forum, everyone could soon lose the motivation to post. Did I mention that I feel somewhat uncomfortable reading the replies of members who do not have an avatar or signature, since it is highly likely that their very post could also be their very last, making it appear insincere?
Some may suggest placing a ban on members who spam. Indeed, it may be effective in the long run, but it hurts the reputation of Fakku, causing potential members to stay away. Even in the world of hentai, marketing is important. I am sure most of us have heard about "good" hentai sites and the less reputable ones.
Since I wasn't with Fakku the day it was born, I may be wrong to come up with the following assumption: Fakku managed to get this far not because of the user uploads, which may not be around in the first place without the community. It could be other reasons that draw a particular internet user and hentai fan to us. At this very moment, there are 67 registered users online, 6 hidden and 1191 guests. I vaguely remember guests being unable to access the user uploads section unless they register, so obviously, they are here for other hentai content.
Lastly, I admit I have raised some issues with the recent suggestions by members, making me look like the "bad" guy. Neither can I say I have any bright ideas to deal with the current problems. I am just trying to look at things from another viewpoint so that no one, if possible, will be put in a disadvantaged position. These feedback and suggestions proved my earlier point that members care about Fakku in their own individual way.

I don't want to sound mean or imply that I don't greatly appreciate the User Uploads section, but if Fakku lost every single thing posted in the User Uploads section, the site would still be great and would still have a ton of hentai. There's the huge collection of manga hosted on the site, the image gallery, the games, and the videos. And let's not forget that Fakku isn't just a site that hosts stuff - the staff has also translated quite a lot of manga and videos.

I am of the opinion that a post-count hide tag won't work. Think about it. What's the difference between making the entire forum require 30 posts to enter, and having every uploader protect their uploads with hide tags that require 50 posts?
Nothing. There is no difference except those spammers will now have added motivation to do what they do best because they now know exactly what is waiting for them once they reach 50 posts. And, the argument "well not every uploader's gonna use the post-count hide tag" does not hold water at all, because the links will get reported and deleted anyway; isn't this what the post-count hide tag is trying to prevent in the first place?
Ultimately a post-count dependent protection will solve the problem, but we cannot simply implement something like this now. Solutions like this only work in stricter and more moderated forums: this is because idiots will violate rules and get banned, and thus hopefully learn their lesson, or get banned forever. Despite our aim to provide an inviting and free environment, I feel no pity towards those who are stupid or obnoxious enough to break the rules enough times to get banned permanently. All they do is ruin the FAKKU experience for others. As of now, without a way to control the spammers, we simply cannot implement any sort of post-dependent restriction without resulting in spam.
This is why, Jacob, I keep telling you to finish working on that certain thing, as well as that other thing. T_T What you keep working on now can wait, seriously.

@gambler: yeah maybe, but when I came here the site was supposed to be "the best in free hentai" or "the best hentai site ever" which it is, but I feel it can be miles better than it is now by having some sort of (I know the admins will shoot me for saying this but...) server side uploading for entire albums where you can view them in the manga section as updated by both fans and admins alike... though that might just add more work to the admins and mods.

while most of you were discussing the post requirement and so on, I have come up with a good Idea (well thats my opinion).
You know I had the idea of a password protection thread, but I guess that It will not be implemented.
thats why I have looked for a way to do this myself and have the simple idea to just make .swf data in which I store my hentai links.
for now If have not been able to implement it, but if have made an example of how I think it will be.
here is a link to the idea
http://rapidshare.com/files/172813012/Fakku_protection.dcr
the pass for this is "fakku" and the link will only leed to fakku.
cause this is just a test and doesn´t have any real usefull function so far.
also this is just a shockwave format using macromedia (so adobe) shockwave player
It doesn´t look that pretty I admit but it gets the job done.
So once I have the .swf ready I will simply upload it somewhere (would be kind if fakku would allow me to upload it here), then implment it by using the flashoption and hand out the password via PM.
You might think this is a little bit extreme but for me it´s the only working option I can think about atm.
So once the .swf is ready and all my uploads are reupped I will give it a try and hopefully not being PM-Spammed by some leechers

Aren't we going to get into Forum spam doing so?Lets be honest, every decision we make, something will cause annoyance. Like forum spams, abuse of power , etc.
I believe last time's problem was because noobs were posting asking 'omg teh wtf i cantz c the user uploads wtf' and some would answer what the count was, and others caught wind of this and caused an explosion of spam.
EDIT: And I think Jacob's idea is excellent, needing certain post to see the links. Implement it without leechers knowing and ignore their pleas of 'teh wtfs'

clever, now to make it compatible across operating systems, and I'm currently too drunk to throw out ideas in programing languages, let alone try to code it myself in said language. which would amount to the equivalent to me jacking off onto the keyboard and hitting compile.

I'm going to very simply sum up the feelings of all the people out there who don't really know much about computers:
Do what now?
Personally, I am kind of in the middle when it comes to computer stuff. I'm not savvy at all, but I know more than the average person who just uses the computer for MySpace and porn. That said, I have no idea what you're talking about.
Maybe if I downloaded the thing from Rapidshare and fiddled around with it, it would make sense, but just reading what you've written, I am confused as all hell.
Is this something that every person could do without much trouble? Or would it keep all people like me (and the many people who don't even know as much as I do) from downloading the stuff you've uploaded?

actually this .swf I am aming for is like a flash game you know.
So what I have in mind is simply, make a spoiler than with swf in it.
this should cause no troubles for everyone who has a newer browser like firefox 3.0 or internet explorere 6 with an adobe flashplayer 10 plugin
which can be found here http://get.adobe.com/de/flashplayer/
so it should handle like a flash game where you will have to insert the password, than you will get the links.
I might also implement a navigation and stuff like this.

I'm still a bit confused by your idea Eranox.
So, you would send the password to people in PMs(1400 PM's isn't fun)? Or in the thread?(What's the point then?)
Once the link reporters have the password, what's stopping them from reporting it anyways?

People can still disable java script, example extension like NoScript in firefox

While i do appreaciate your effort of creating a flash with password protected link, spams will really be of an issue and how do you determine who is trustworthy to be informed of the password?

thats what I hope to achive to only give the pass to people on fakku I trust.
Well this is all in all a matter of whom do I trust and who not.
I definitly trust people who are supportive and active around fakku, like members with 500+post and 10+ rep no question.
The only thing that could happen than is that people who have the password just give it to other (well at least I hope that this isn´t going to happen)
and as for the 1400 pms ???? I don´t know why you would thing that there will be 1400 PM we have only like up to lets say 200 registered and active members any way, the 1000+ guest have no access to the upload section.
I would simply make a collection thread like I did before, than store all the links in the .swf, which is secured with only one password.
And if some of the links would get reported, I would simply switch the password of the .swf.......hm I sense a problem here, but I am not going to yell it out yet.
eqym wrote...

well the spam thing is proably not an issue cause they will get the password only from me.
So I don´t see the point why they would spam the entrie forum with request what the password is, cause I would insert a message that they will only get password from me via pm and everybody who would spam would get reported to the admins and get banned.

well anyway I recently discovert a other option (thanks to girlcelly) so i can reupload dead links in no time.
But I will still cherish on the flash idea but lets first see how the megamanager thing will work out.
cause I am reupping my whole collection thread right now.
