8. Not really true. We burned down parliament and then raided Ottawa. Then the English Canadian units burn down the white house. There was win or lost in either case. Canada played little in both wars except a fort and entry point. Most of the soldiers weren't canadain. They were British army regulars and a few miltia/indains/escaped blacks.
The rest maybe true. English is a germanic language of Saxon. Colour is just plain weird.

Well, technically no one was really "Canadian" during those wars, Canada wasn't officially recognized as a country until 1867. But when I am referring to Canada there, it includes the people already native to the land, black immigrants and of course the British & Irish colonialists.

War of 1812: when America declared war against the British in an attempt to annex British territories in modern day Canada.
That was the battle of york(not our capital), it was a "small provincial" parliament building(a library was also burned down). Not sure where the stuff came about Ottawa being raided. As stated above British soldiers ended up burning down your white house near the end of the war(which neither side saw a way to decisively win anymore). Final point, a lot of the British soldiers making up a large part of their forces were native Canadian.
So it is in fact true.
p.s. English is an amalgamation of multiple languages based on Saxon, and the English(and the rest of English speaking countries) decided to go with colour, why change it?

I thought Winnie the Pooh was originally Edward Bear or something like that.Seems the author's son renamed the bear pooh after the Canadian bear(winnie) at the London zoo.
