My tires arent that expensive, what kind of car do you have? That explains why the tires are so expensive, I spent 600 last time I replaced mine.
Not a fun thing to have to do, but its necessary.

It's nice to know there are people out there that can relate, thanks kind sir.Yep... Don't get winter tires unless you really have to.
It'll cost you an arm and a leg.

I went with all-season Toyo Proxis, there is no way I 'm getting winter tires, like Blizzaks or something similar, ain't got the fundage.Good choice, I hear that those things last two years give or take, depending on how you drive.

That's just not thinking very well at all...
ot:
My tyres cost about $220 to replace all four, if I do the stockies... If I want to get good tyres for the mags, I'll be looking at anywhere between 600-800. Depends if I'm doing my hub swap anytime soon...
For reference, my stocks are 12"x4wide. tyres are like 155/55/r12. Mags are 15"x6.5wide. Tyres: 195/55/r15
Oh, and fun fact, tyres are more expensive here :D
But yeah. I pray you're from america, otherwise when that dodge breaks (and it will) you're going to be down a LOT of money. Bad choice in wheels, and car, if you don't have much money to spend on repairs and what not.

Whether you get winter tyres or go with four-season largely depends on where you live.
If you ever get a decent amount of snow with some regularity (lessay- at least 10 inches over the course of three months or more), you should definitely get proper winter tyres. The four season simply aren't cut out to adequately handle the unique conditions brought about by slush, ice, snow, and cold.
Yeah, it's pricey- but better to spend the money on tyres than a hospital bill and jacking your insurance rates.
As for how long they'll last- goes without saying that if you do a fair amount of distance upon your regular commute, they'll need replacing sooner. I clock in nearly 180-200 miles per day on average, and will also take the occasional road trip- so I need to change my tyres pretty much every year. I keep old sets of winter tyres to use during the summer as spares or if my funds are tight, but my summer ones are usually completely baby-bottom smooth after 5-6 months.

Just got the last tire put on today, final tally (drumroll) 950 dollars! I don't think I've spent that much money on a car at one time since my old Thunderbird grenaded its transmission, and that was 1200 dollars.

Your roads are probably 90 times better than here... And either way, how is having 22" wheels with low profile tyres going to help your situation? You'd hit a pothole and fuck your wheel and suspension up MORE than if you had wheels like mine (Obviously not the exact wheels, cause you'd be scraping rail)
Also, it helps not to be retarded when you're driving... Then you don't hit potholes
