Been wondering... What are they fighting for????

The Chinese people are always hotheaded and they keep on pressuring their government to take action regarding the territorial dispute between them and Japan over small group of islands. They could not even resolve the issue through peaceful diplomatic means. At least the Japanese didn't run wild when the destructive protests started, otherwise it would only escalate the problem.

Fighting?! No no. This is something cultural, something that outsiders like us would not comprehend at first glance.

You see, the Chinese and the Japanese are actually going through an esoteric East Asian ritual of sorts. Every time when it is fishing season in the East China Sea, it is customary and in fact a bit of a tradition to knock each other's boats and plant flags and build lighthouses on bits of rock that no sane person would care about.

And then there is something rather heartwarming, when the Chinese ships greet the Japanese ships in Japanese and the Japanese ships reciprocate by greeting them in Mandarin. Something to behold at, if one manages to hear it first hand.

Then, the Japanese would invite some Chinese back to Japan for some tea. However, they would have to put on a sack over their heads whilst they do that. In the meantime, the Chinese would have a picnic of sorts outside somewhere Japanese-ish in China that could go a bit rambunctious at times. But, it is all out of goodwill. Through this picnic, the Chinese are hoping for unification with Japan that will take place most likely by a friendly visit by the PLA and the PLAN.

And then the festival closes, with the Chinese sending the paramilitary to clear up the picnic and the Japanese making their head of government a human sacrifice.

Very strange peoples, these Asian peoples.

And so the Chinese destroying themselves... How sad..

Look on the bright side. The Chinese had fun! Waving things, throwing things and burning things are forms of stress relief or expressions of happiness and joy!

The Japanese had fun too offering up their Prime Minister as a sacrifice to their Gods! In fact they like it so much they are considering making it an annual affair!

In fact, word around is, Koizumi Junichiro made clones of himself before he became Prime Minister. This explains why he appeared to have lasted for 5 years!
