The popularity will eventually fade, but I'm pretty sure the whole vocaloid thing will simply remain relatively low-key once the next big thing is found. Always gonna be a dedicated fanbase somewhere.Beatles anyone? Music doesn't die, peeps.
The Beatles made an ACTUAL impact on the music scene, difference.
so your saying Vocaloid didn't?
I can understand not as much as the Beatles, but until Vocaloid started gaining popularity, Voice synthed songs weren't popular.

Not saying that Vocaloid didn't make a difference, but I feel the voice synths aren't exactly what I would consider a major impact...

Replacing actual singers is not an improvement IMO... but I guess that's beside the point of the thread.

Also, with Vocaloid, it opened up many opportunities for composers who didn't actually have a singer (pretty much 90% of the compisers) to gain popularity with their works.

I'm not arguing the technical point, I find it amazing...
It's just as with Auto-Tune, I don't really like where things are going.
But I'm pretty much stuck in the 60s/70s so my opinion may be biased, haha...

When Miku is finally gone that will probably mean half of the otaku community will return to their normal lives. And I seriously can't see how she will ever die or be killed off. Too much profit lies in her character and the VOCALOID series.

Miku will always be a favorite because she was at the forefront of the Vocaloid whatever, and people have strong sentimental connections with whatever comes first. Personally, I think Miku is dog shit compared to Luka and Meiko, but I have a soft spot for her, even if she doesn't completely conform to my interests.

The very first times when those two came out, whenever they were advertising them I remember that most of the ads had Miku accompanying them.

But vocaloid become boomin' because of Miku. And they choose 'kawaii' girl (for me as well) as her voice icon. The realization of sharon apple from macross plus. First, she just dub from other real singer song. Now, she has her own song and her popular (and other vocaloids) songs are singing by real people.

Have any of the male vocaloid even had a "life"? There seems to be a startling lack of good songs sang'd by them.
