Do college professors really need a degree to teach?
0
Sooooo, I've been away for awhile since the beginning of my summer term final week, and seeing that I completed my finals and get my grades already, I figured I'll do some comeback thread
Truth is, some time after the start of my summer session, a random thought just keeps bugging me, do they really need a guy/girl with a master or PhD degree to teach as college professors? While one of my professor in my stats class was actually really good, the other one for my intermediate macro was just well, let's just say not the best teacher I've ever had, Because the only thing that she's been doing for the entire class was read straight through the powerpoint slides (and FYI, the slides are available as an online resource for teachers, she didn't create them) and wrote some equations on the board, which is the exact same equations you can find on the textbook and slides
Well, she did derive the equations, but anyone with basic calculus knowledge can do that, and well, if you just take Calc in high school, then pretty much you're all set.
So, I survived the course daydreaming and doing my stats homework on the lectures instead, and my grade is real good, so I have no complaints :3

Maybe that explains how she became a teacher

He reads the script to us in broken German (with a heavy Russian accent) and the few things he does write on the blackboard are so illegible you can just stay at home and read the damn script and you're still better off than trying to decipher that gibberish.
Every time I attend that class (which I have come to avoid as there is no compulsory attendance for that), I can literally feel having my brain shrunk by that.

What is this "derive" magic you are speaking of, dear sir?Well, it's just wrote one equation, substitute some terms (basic algebra) and then use derivatives/diferrentials as in calc I to get the final equation
Basically it means creating an equation from another one
Crap, I'm talking like a scientist

3/5 of my teachers are like that. Imagine how much I love law...
One of them taught economic criminal law, in english, she was Hungarian with a very thick accent, and her french was way better than her english, but since the university has a compulsory number of courses that need to be taught in english...We had to deal with it. And we didn't even have a script ;_;

No, really. I don't have a fucking clue what that means. I've barely got through high school math (damn them geometry objects) by bribing my teacher with flowers and gifts (lol).
And I went to one seminar of math for the first year, first semester of my tech major friend and it was like the professor said "Lemme work mah magic" and stopped 50 minutes later.
tl;dr WAT.

I can only talk with numbers, I'm a math major, LOL

as for nashrakh and chinha, if this helps, she comes from china, and her accent is so damn heavy, I have no doubt that she can speak english, but it's like hearing mandarin and english at the same time

One of my friend coined the title
And Neya just doesn't seems right for me, I guess I do have a soul for moe

Math was my major for like, two semesters. :|
Started out ok, but the workload was so ridiculous I called it quits.
And we rarely did anything with numbers, so I dunno how to take your statement lol
