Do you give money to beggars?

A somewhat serious topic.

I always give them money when I got spare change. Usually they ask for like, a few cents and I give them a dollar or two.

I remember that one time, a really cute beggar girl came up to me and asked for money. I had a pocketful of change that I gave her, which was like over 5 bucks. I still remember her face, but have never seen her again...

Pffft, I gave a homeless guy a dollar and he gave me a DS lite.

I know it sounds lame, but I always give when I have spare change, and if it's McDonald's, I buy them food.

"Here's a sandwich. You sure must be hungry, right?"

Well yes whenever I have it... whenever I am with my family they say "no," "what are you doing," or "why do you give them money"... I wonder why they do not like to give money to the less fortunate... but anyway whenever my family says that I always say "Because when I become homeless I would want people to give me money too." Hahahaha...

I get them food. When they say they don't want food, they want alcohol, I get them a few little shot bottles of vodka. It's less than a meal, and they don't want food,so why not. That's happened like twice. They are always happy to see food around here. I never give money, though, ever.

Most homeless people piss me off.

There was this one guy who told me "You know what, I am not going to lie to you I just really want a beer." I just laughed and gave him like three dollars worth of change... I hope that was enough... I do not know how much beer costs these days.

Well, they could be concerned about what the homeless do with the money. Drugs, alcohol, or are they really going to buy food with it?

I hate seeing them homeless, is what I mean, but I feel that even as I'm helping them, it's not really doing anything but making them live longer = suffer.

I only give money to elderly/handicapped beggars and maybe to small kids. I hate beggars that are between 14-50 years old, since they are perfectly able to find work.

Finding work when you are homeless is nearly impossible.

Well of course but if you put all homeless into that category then what about the honest ones?... what about the ones who are really hungry? I do not know what they do with the money, but I rather give then not to give and feel regret... and sorry if I offended anyone, I used words like 'ones' and 'they'... i do not mean to be... well whatever the word is... maybe an ass?

I knew a homeless kid named Fuck Junk who went back to his parents' house whenever he got fucked up pretty bad in Oakland. He lives in Marin County (rich bitch area). When his parents nursed him back to health, he'd be back on the streets. He is 16 or 17 now.
