Does it make me a bad artist ....

In my opinion it doesn't make you a bad artist if you use pose references. It just helps you as an artist a crutch if will.

I freestyle. Looking at posing dolls and pre done images just don't seem artistically sound unless you like biting someone's elses style and design.

You put this in IB? ok.
Doesn't make you a bad artist, but as A_USA said, you'll probably fall into someone elses style. I'd suggest you learn from different artists techniques. Eventually, drawing a pose of your own style should be pretty easy.
I have the same problem with bodys >_>

Well I don't copy their styles, rather just use poses for references .. I am able to transform it into my style, it's not hard ...
Just really bringing my imagination of that image out is the problem.

There's nothing wrong with using references as long as your not directly tracing something and calling it your work. Eventually, the goal is to develop your own style though..... something I still don't have.
