Haven't really tried to find out, wouldn't matter with the few songs I have there anyway, especially on shuffle. Couldn't tell you much about how they are now in any case, mine is a decade old by now.

Found a nice 8GB one. Wish I'd bought one a month back for my trip but there's no way it'd arrive on time now.
