I have trouble with some katakana, though. Some are just too damn similar to others. Kanji... Well, I do at least recognize a few, but not enough for it to be of any use most of the time.

Raze's old Japanese teaching thread was a nice start, otherwise I would likely still know almost nothing. Learned a bit more by myself later as well, although I rend to forget about even having a nice helpful site bookmarked most of the time. Or get distracted by work. Or anime/manga/games... :D
