Also, was about to drop Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha but a rather fascinating revelation near the start of episode 2 has fueled my interest

Maou is fine, its just another way of doing isekai, but not being isekai technically, designs are nice.

Im honestly suprised. Now I find myself actually enjoying this anime. It kind of reminds me of Overlord. The protaganist is way over powered but thats not really the point

Exactly. You'd be forgiven for thinking this at first, but the actual plot that starts to unravel has little to do with using brute force.

He was OP before and just remains OP.

If the first 4 mins of the series was exposition on how some random neet/teen/salaryman died, then was now Anos, then yeah... this would lose a fair amount of the appeal, at least to me it would.

Like I said I was about to give up on it after the first episode until the second episode revealed that everyone thinks the demon lord was a different person. They have all been following some false pretender. So now its more of a show about figuring out who changed history and erased his name.

I am not to interested in that part really, who ever it is, they won't stand a chance against our OP protagonist.
Just interested in the characters and interactions with each other.

I do tend to watch those often, the underlining or over arching story about what happened in the 2k years of his absence is interesting to hear, but its not my main focus as I don't see anything being revealed that could pose a threat to him, only the Hero could be a threat in terms of power. Only odd twist would be if the Hero, set all this up and he's the "end boss" etc.

Its not that I think he will ever actually get defeated or anything. Anos is for sure going to destroy any enemy that attacks him. For me its more just about the mystery. Trying to piece together what happened and finding out not only the culprit but also the reason behind it. The actual fight with a sort of "end boss" is kind of irrelevant when the protag is this OP
