They're more like my sisters than my sister so...no.So... if they weren't like your sisters... you would? Or am I reading this out of context? You know what, never mind. I'm going to shut up about this now.
How'd gaming go? What'd ya play?
No because that would be a very awkward relationship.
The Witcher 3, trying to 100% it.
Ugh... Witcher fan... no wonder you hate the Souls series. There's a correlation between Witcher fans hating Souls games and vice versa. You and I need to find some more games we can break ground with other than Halo.

It's fucking amazing, mostly cause I read the books so I have context into the series but what I love the most is: IT HAS A FUCKING STORY. That's the (no pun intended here) sole reason why a Witcher fan should not like Dark Souls, that and its bad concept/stupid game play as I've said many times.

You gotta piece it together yourself. From Software's foremost goal was to create a fine-tuned game that would have you lost in it's mechanics and environment. Dark Souls' combat system is very simple yet complicated and not many games can do that well. As I've also said before, it was supposed to be an homage to old school 2D Metroidvania platformers if they were converted to 3D. Exploration and game play come first. It's up to you whether you want to invest in the story or ignore it. After all, not every gamer wants a story. If we use Halo as an example, some payers have never even touched a single one of the campaigns. At the most, they skip the cutscenes and play them just for achievements.
In fact, have you ever played Castlevania? They're awesome games and I highly suggest them.

No, no, no, no. I've told you before, that doesn't classify as a story, a story has to be told to someone. If a story has to be pieced together and researched, then that's research. That's indisputable.
And it's a game focused on difficulty, that's not fun for me. You can't say a 'simple yet complex' combat system is a positive thing to me, it defeats its own purpose in my eyes. Maybe not every gamer wants a story but the vast majority do, that's why fan-fiction is as popular as it is. I want to connect to the characters and feel what they feel.
Yes I have and I hated the experience.

Hm... hm... okey dokey. Your points are all very valid. I do agree that piecing something together does make it more research than a story, but it's through research and discovery that some of the greatest stories have been written. Great tales of historical battles and moments are relived and experienced as books, movies, plays and other media through historical research people have done. Through this, legendary real life events are then personified into fantasy branches that create their own epic tales. All stories start somewhere, and if not for studious research, there would't even be stories to tell.
Your second point I can also agree with. Games should not pride themselves on a certain gimmick just because it works. But like I mentioned before as well, I guess the best thing to say once more would be that fun is subjective. What I find fun, you might not. This would immedaitely solve all the problems as to why I like Souls games and you don't. After all, no one person has fun the exact same way another does.
As for your last point, I'm sorry to hear that, haha. *pats*

...If you're trying to write a story than yes. But the argument was if Souls had a story, not the justification of whether research can lead to a great story and that point is totally different to what the souls series does with its 'research' anyway. It's just lazy writing in my opinion, anyone can write a set of historic or chronological events that seem dramatic and interesting, to flesh those out, give the characters depth and personality and include tension and drama thoroughly instead of just bullet pointed information, is totally different. And a story you are told shouldn't be hidden, it shouldn't have to be researched, to make one, yes but not the other way around like Souls' does.
Maybe so but I don't think it deserves the high praise it gets for that alone, popularity? Sure, if people like it they like it but I don't see anything innovative, or technically amazing about it that critics and its fans claim it does. Not any better than the other products on the market.

In order for you to like them they have to like you back generally. My dogs are really loving to everyone and love to play with me. Honestly prefer them to most people.

Mine wouldn't, well they'd bark a ton but as soon as they stop and see you're of no harm they'd be really nice and interested in you and want your attention. They're both cowards in the face of danger so clawing would never happen lol
