Don't die.
On a serious note, try having two people awake/alert at all times. You don't have to talk to each other all the time but having 4 eyes on the road is always better than 2. Also the other person can notice fatigue signs the driver can't notice on themselves. If you have only two people in the car rotate the driver. It's probably gonna take you 10 hours if you don't make stops, and I'm being conservative, so 5 hour driving each should do the trick.
If there are more than two people in the car playing road games might be useful, not only it keeps the mood lively, thus making hard for the driver to fall asleep, but it also makes it fun rather than a boring 10 hour sitting in a car experience. Having music that all like helps, but it's hard depending on how you've met your friends, to have all like the same thing.

Keep a conversation going with the driver. It's a good way to keep them awake, and you. If you need to sleep, make sure you tell the driver to pull over and have a nap if need be.
Caffine, water, musics.
Our long trips are usually 2-3hours long... as that's from one end of the island to the other... I haven't done 5+ hours before

Oh yeah, you should pull over every once in a while to stretch. Being stuck in the same position, specially sitting, is terrible for your back. If don't stop to stretch you'll be sore for a day or two.

>Go to a remote island so you can be completely surrounded by nature
>Survive there for several months while training both your mind and body vigorously
>Reach spiritual enlightenment and learn the secrets to the arcane arts
>Learn a magic ability that lets you instantly teleport to any location in the world
>Teleport to desired location.
>No more 10+ hour drive for you. Problem solved.

HA.
... But I thought that you were my friend.

But I'm artificial, I don't count.

Poop whenever you have to and can, you might never find a bathroom when you need it and pooping outside attracts bears; I'm Canadian, I know.

What, have you been through longer?
I drove 800+ miles (because of almost getting lost and a break down) when I moved to Texas...
[EDIT] alone and in one day...
