Genometrics Concert Hall ~Mrgrgr!!!~

Walking across this island's jungle is giving me flashbacks. I remember walking through the Amazon jungle trying to find some rebel leader. I hated taking jungle missions because of the heat and humidity, but the pay was good.

"Straha, you've been quiet for a while. What are you thinking of?"

"Mm? Oh just my life back in Vetus."

"Do you miss it?"

"At times. There were cities and towns that I enjoyed visiting. Due to my...profession...I didn't have many friends. Those that I did I held dear."

"What kind of missions did you do?"

"Oh the usual" I say as I maneuver my way around an area of the ground that is obviously a quicksand pit. "Assassinations, body guard, transporter, spy, etc."

"Sound like you were always on the move. Did you have a home that you could always go back to when you weren't working?"

"Well...I did and I didn't. After my grandfather's passing, he left me his house in his will. I never lived in it, though. To many good memories of times past that I'd rather not disturb. Besides, I was hardly ever in the same country for more than a month most of the time due to job offerings all over the world."

"When did you become a mercenary? Not long after my grandfather died. I was 17, I think. It's all I've been doing for the past 6 years."

"Were you nervous on your first job?"

I paused before answering that question. There was a strange skeleton ahead of me. It looked like that of a dragon of sorts. Some of the bones looked shattered. Some of them showed markings as if something had cut it with knives. It looks almost as if it was killed and then eaten. It's quite old. I decide to keep moving forward and I answer her question.

"Scared? I was terrified! I had practiced martial arts with my grandfather and I could snipe a watermelon two miles away on a clear day. But when you put that into actual use, it's scary. I went through wit it, though, but it was a messy job. I killed one more person than I was supposed to and I almost got caught. I was paid, but only a quarter of what was promised due to my incompetence. I learned fast, though. I had to."

"What kind of people hired you?"

"The usual sketchy people. Mob leaders, rebels, mafias, and the occasional government."

"Governments hired you? For what purposes?"

"Mostly spying jobs. Sometimes I am hired to kill as it happened two years ago. That was the job that changed my life. It's because of it that I find myself here in Mundus Magicus."

Ah, it looks like we're coming to a clearing just ahead.

"What happened? What was the job?"

"I was hired by an official of the US government to kill...Nazis?"

Just ahead of us there is a wooden mast sticking out of the tops of the trees. The flag it bears...is that of the Third Reich.
