My whole family knows I'm into Japanese pop culture as a whole, and also an anime nut.
Both my brothers (older and younger) watch some animes. My younger brother watches Fairy Tail and One Piece religiously, while my older bro watches Gintama and other animes sparingly.
I have a group of about 4 friends who are all Anime and J-culture otakus, all watch hentai so I feel at ease.. but my family doesn't know I also watch hentai stuff.

Moma knows, papa doesn't care, aniki watches it (probably beats off too). One of my friends does both (he knows I'm on fakku but idk if he uses it). The other one only watched golden boy, so he feels left out sometimes.
In my case gaming is more looked down upon than this.

My parents don't mind what I do, they were very lenient when I was a teenager, whether it was anime or video games.
My friends share the same hobbies, just as some of my brothers do.

My parents don't care; they used to buy me my comics and manga when I was younger. My siblings generally don't care, we're all pretty different anyway. My partner uses Fakku and exhentai, so she's fine with it. Most of my friends know I used to read comics like crazy in secondary school, I would read Deadpool in free periods and Battle Royale in geography. I don't think any of my colleagues read manga or anything; the most we have in common is we all formulate ways to kill each other regularly.

Mom doesn't care, I think my dad thinks it's weird that I go to cons and cosplay though. They're more annoyed at my playing video games it seems. They think I'm "obsessed" because I play League of Legends, assorted VNs and flash games on my computer. As for my friends, they don't care; they even know I watch hentai and think it's funny that I'm pretty open about it.

The only people who don't know are the zealots in my family. I'm the type of person that absolutely refuses to take themselves seriously so I've pretty much blurted my weirdness out. I don't care. My friends don't really care.. and the friends I do have tend to be as weird or weirder than me.
Like, this one asian girl is convinced she's going to marry the techno viking.
She has an orgasm everytime he's brought up.

My some of my aunties and uncles, and my brother think anime is childish. My mum and my sister couldn't really care though my sister has occasionally watched some anime and enjoyed it but she isn't interested in watching any more.
The thing that gets on my nerves is the idea that some family members, and people think because I like anime I like every thing Japanese and Asian, and that I only like Asian women, and even after I've set every thing clear they still keep going on about it.

I've come to the point where I'm beginning to not give a shit about who knows I like animu. Told a handful of my friends I like animu, and willingly go downstairs and browse Fakku in front of the 'rents like a bauss niggah. I try to keep n00ds off the screen with the 'rents around though. Emphasis on try. Keeps them from being more nosey than the odd occasion.
The one hobby that gets frowned upon by family and friends alike is when I get so engrossed in a game I will play it for weeks on end. Every game in the Ratchet and Clank series received that treatment (except Quest for Booty, that game was an hour long), as did Skyrim, TF2, Spore and Spiral Knights, just to name a few, and sometimes it gets to the point that my mum thinks that I believe the game I'm playing is real. I'm a lot of things, but delusional is something I'm not.

Everyone I know is aware of my love of anime, my brothers share it too. But hentai is my dirty little secret no one knows of it except my wife tho she thinks its hilarious but she doesn't actually like it.

Almost nobody knows. If I had friends who were into anime, I could possibly be more open about it... but I'm only into hentai.
So I'd have to randomly and accidently meet people irl who were also hentai fans. Chances are rather low for that.

Those who know my questionable activities do not question them. I do not tend to communicate to others what I am into, unless necessary.
