Assuming the bus company/ bus driver doesn't do something with found items left by passengers,
you could look for used/discount textbooks online and see if you can get the same textbook at a better price.

That's life, you learn as you go. Be more careful next time.Thanks for the sympathy, but unfortunately the textbook's newest edition came out like a month ago, and there are literally no copies of the book that are cheaper than a hundred. Oh well

Damn, that really sucks. The same thing happened to me once, only I was friends with the driver and he noticed I dropped it. The next morning he handed it to me and told me that I dropped it.
