Why am I not surprised to see your blithering idiocy in this thread, OP? You're like the retarded kid that's constantly told not to touch the stove, but does the shit anyway. Over and over...and over again. Saying that that I'm disgusted by your infinitesimal comprehensional aptitude to make a decent thread is an insult when I compare it to the irreparable damage you've caused to my faith in human intellect.

Oh, yeah, so you upgraded the big three and have a 1/0 distro with a 4 gauge in the back for the extra battery you'll need? Even then your most likely stock alternator is already at a 90% load on average, so you'd need something really fucking beefy to handle the incredibly power hungry amps you've put in. An alternator that size probably wouldn't fit in the tight little space your current alternator is in without serious modification seeing as you know, every car produced in the last twenty some odd years has an incredibly tight engine compartment with minimal space between parts.
If you did put $6,000 worth of sound into your car, you're an idiot. Far, far more of an idiot than you claim OP to be. There is absolutely no reason you need that much power in an enclosed space that small, you're listening to music in your car, not trying to project audio across a dance floor at a small-sized club where you need that much power to cancel out the ambience of a few hundred people talking, dancing and drinking. If it were a party van, the story would completely different, but it's not and you're a retard for exorbitantly spending that much money on something you will never be able to use the full potential of. You will never be able to hear the difference between that audio system and an intelligently purchased audio system that cost around $2,000 either, because you're in a fucking car.

Beats audio headphones or overrated overpriced headphone set.

There is no pair of Beats headphones that price at $500 anyway (which is the low-end of enthusiast), the max is $400 USD /w tax for the Pro series which I've had the chance of using. The bass doesn't bleed and is clear, they're comfortable, the sound is a little too warm and the detail pickup is average at best. Could get the same quality for 1/4 of the price.
That being said, among enthusiasts, Beats has a terrible, terrible reputation.

First part:
Negs rrp is 6k
I've only run 0awg from the front battery to the boot to the one surfboard of an amp. Doing the big 3 upgrade when I get some spare wire at some stage (probably after I do the front pods and get my new sub) But, before then, a new engine will be put in the car, since the current engine is dying, and it's current alternator (not a reason for changing engines, it's just handy) puts out like 20amps. the new engine's one should put out a fair bit more, if I'm lucky.
Amp's rrp is 4k, I paid 1k for it. It's a giant fuck-off 5channel amp that was apparently a special edition... Worth it imo.
Aside from that, your argument is pretty much invalid, because my car is older than 20 years old. Lolwat? something like 38 years old now
As for alternator modding... It's not that difficult. Probably the hardest bit would be making an adaptor, and even then, that's not hard at all. They don't take up anywhere near as much space as you're implying/ you think. Having said that, inb4 the new engine's alt is on the back side...
Again, negatory my good point maker.
It's all about the quality. Not 'quality' I mean actual quality. Quality whilst you transit. Besides, no reason for that much power? Oh, there is a reason. There is a godly reason. You see, I'm on a quest. A quest to have the bass I lust for. Lust? Lust probably isn't the best word for the job, but alas.
To be able to have bass, that I can feel, pounding in thy chest, with low drops below 15hz, loud enough and violent enough to make your nose tingle and things on your dashboard vibrate around. I aim to take this to shows at some stage, enter bass comps (maybe some sq comps if I can get it actually sounding decent, and not so goddamn harsh... I really need to learn my headunit more) try to beat 145.3db in the novice catagory. I have a friend who is doing 160's at the moment. Fun times. Haven't seen it in person yet, but apparently it's pretty awesome to be in when it happens. You may think that's stupid. It is, but fuck it.
and no, I'm not one of those skrillex fanboys who thinks skrillex produces mad bass... he doesn't... his bass is shitty, and sounds like ass[/h]
Also, I will use the full potential. I'm currently very close to the limiter on the amp and sub at the moment. Sub is but a crappy 4ohm sub. Will be replaced with a dual 4ohm sub, so I can pump 6-700wrms through the bastard. Then I'll get some better bass. Mind you, the sony sub has been doing quite well for the meantime.
I'm not looking to please anyone but myself (well, maybe the other car audio people, but eh)
I wouldn't be able to hear the difference between a 2k home audio system, my car and a nightclubs sound setup?
If you can't, I have bad news for you.
Nightclub - Generally the dj's have no concept for how songs are meant to sound. Treble is either waay too high, and hurts your ears. Bass is too loud, sounds spongy and like shit. Pretty sure they are maxing out the bass, pushing it to 11, trying to be cool... not realising it sounds like ass.
Home audio system - Generally a lot smoother. great for sq, barely any bass, unless you get an expensive kit (or upgrade for more subs) Less bass, cause more room. More room means the equipment has to play harder to get as loud. Despite being rediculously efficient (Thus why a lot of car audio people use home audio gear for their sq cars)
My car (at it's present state, which is about 40% finished sound wise) - Bass is nice for general listening, not too peaky, not too sloppy. nice and punchy. Mids kinda ruins it a bit, they seem to get quite harsh up high. The tweeters aren't even up very loudly (haven't been arsed to tune it properly yet. Might have a crack later in the week, if I get a chance)
AS for a proper car audio setup, it would sound a lot different to a home audio setup. Purely cause there is less area. It's an enclosed space. everything travels properly, sounds perfect, just works. The aucoustics are just perfect (unless you want to run purely off speakers on the rear parcel shelf... then it's not perfect, and the sound reflects off the rear windscreen, and gets really harsh... Not fun). Not to say you can't get a home audio system to sound like that, but it is interesting to setup.
I admit, it's a stupid hobby, but my god is it fun. Cars as a hobby is amazing. People think it's stupid, I don't agree, I love it/ them.

Oh, you actually know what you're doing! Well the story is a lot different now. Sorry, usually when I see remarks like "I put $6,000 into my car audio system" I think of spoiled brats with too much money on their hands buying all of that expensive equipment just so they can brag about it and never actually tuning it or setting it up properly so it sounds no different than a $2 k home theater system.
I've changed, replaced and upgraded more than a few alternators in my life time, what I didn't realize it that you were going for quality instead of 'quality' with your audio system, which completely changes the dynamic of what and how much you need out of your alternator.
I wasn't talking about a massive popular nightclub, the small ones where there's maybe 200 - 250 people max, I've help put together some amazing set-ups for under $8,000, mind you a lot of custom modification was involved. And yeah it's true, it's not the audio system in a club but entirely the DJs fault (particularly ones that throw down dubstep) having no idea how to master their mixes, tracks or set their levels properly during a set. Which is really quite sad, it's not fucking rocket science. Though even then there's only so much you can do, most dubstep artists have no idea what the fuck their doing in any event, they get a loud and gritty sound by putting a compressor/limiter over their signal and bring the threshold all the way so they "sausage the fuck out of it" (in the words of Deadmau5), which totally fucks up the quality of their sound.

As for the last part:
Beats
They are expensive, but sound like shit. What do?
Also, you didn't quote me properly >.> I only found your reply by accident
Hah, s'all good. Had a feeling you either thought I was some spoiled brat or a bogan/ chav who thinks his crappy sony xplod sub put out like 180deebeeez.
But yeah, My amp was the most expensive thing by rrp. 4k rrp. It was on sale for 1k, and it was nice and powerful, so I figured 'why naut'. Only problem is, it takes up half the boot >.> Stupid rockford power1000
Yeah, I'm a bit after quality and a bit of quantity/ spl. I do like my music to sound good, but I do like the bass, at the same time. hah.
As for alternators, I haven't really played with many. All I'm hoping is, is that my new engines one is not on the back of the engine... if it is, that's going to be a pain in the ass... But, it's honda. I don't think they're that assholish.
And yeah, that sounds about like what the clubs are like down here. Such a low population, so they are small. But yeah, the dj's just seem to slam the bass into overdrive, and just push the treble to compensate... that's not how it works, no... stahp.
And yeah, dubstep seems to be one of the causes of this. The idealogy behind dubstep seems to be 'OH, LET'S TURN THE BASS KNOB ALL THE WAY UP. IT WILL SOUND TITS!' nek minut; distortion out the ass >.>
