Honestly I originally posted this to Serious Discussion but I guess all the incoherent babbling that went on ruined that for me.

There is a recent con, which is Katsucon and a couple of my friends and a few people I don't know are going and sharing a room. So you can start making friends there.

Oh you're in NoVa (North Virginia). That part is practically the D.C. area.
The nicest mall in that area is Tyson's corner in Mclean. The best night life is in D.C. Oh and be prepared to encounter very bad traffic and using the metro-rail is better.

Around March the cherry blossom trees are blooming in D.C. and there's a parade sometime in April. There's anime-ish stuff during the festival as well.
