I like NTR way more than vanilla. Both of their stories are tympically uninteresting to me (it's usually the same thing over and over). When the story sucks I just fap to the artwork and NTR generally have way better artwork than vanilla. Also, I dislike the vanilla fanbase. As for why fans of vanilla often abhor netorare and yet are OK with netori is because when reading fiction, the natural way that most people's minds usually work is to connect with the protagonist, regardless of that protagonist's failings. Therefore, when the protagonist gets NTR'd, obviously the reader is going to feel that pain as well, at least to an extent. Likewise, in netori, when the protagonist steals the girl, the sense of empowerment the protagonist feels is partially felt by the reader, or at the very least, the reader doesn't get any negative emotional backlash.

The reason I have an aversion to NTR is mainly because of the depiction of the emotional agony experienced by the protagonist, and how much of a douche the stealer always is. The cheating aspect of it is secondary, IMO. As for why fans of vanilla often abhor netorare and yet are OK with netori is because when reading fiction, the natural way that most people's minds usually work is to connect with the protagonist, regardless of that protagonist's failings. Therefore, when the protagonist gets NTR'd, obviously the reader is going to feel that pain as well, at least to an extent. Likewise, in netori, when the protagonist steals the girl, the sense of empowerment the protagonist feels is partially felt by the reader, or at the very least, the reader doesn't get any negative emotional backlash.
Just for clarification, in case it wasn't obvious, I'm talking about male vanilla-fans.
