Also fyi, waiting for the birth process while I can do nothing but walk restlessly till everything's done is really heart stopping. I had mine and her mother to calm me down during the process. I'm ashamed of myself.
To my understanding, that's a far more common response than you'd think.
You love her, of course her screams would perturb you.

your patience and industry will be tested up til your wits
be supportive of your wife and give her attention, this can become as an onset for post partum depression, (I'm not scaring you, just giving you a heads up if ever. better be prepared than sorry).
for the next journey forward expect, smiles, tears, laughter, heartbreaks, joy and love... sounds like a roller coaster! but it will be all worth it...
