I was reading a Manga (not on Fakku <gasp> as I was reading it with my grand daughter (10 going on 30))
Anyway one of the characters referred to herself as a "Hardy Gal" and her "Gal" hairstyle suited her
I found "Gal" hairstyle on Google but no "Hardy Gal"
N.B. The Gal hairstyle is kinda Hot
The question is, obviously, What is or what describes a "Hardy Gal" ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as granddaughters never quit

Hardy usually means someone who has endurance and physical strength, that have overcome a lot of hardships. So I suppose Hardy Gal would mean she was a rugged type of girl, so to speak.

Bet your first manga was Doraemon and your first Anime was Astroboy and you saw how both just started out.

If by chance you were reading Gals! than it probably refers to haircuts that are typical amoung the Japanese Gal subculture: Like bouffants, large curly hair styles with tiaras and crowns added, and or large elaborate long hair styles. If it does not refer to hair cuts common to Gals [syn: Ganguro, Yamanba,] that it probably refers solely to a specific young woman's hair style. The term "Hardy Gal" Either means "Tough Chick" or "Strong Gal" The latter of which meaning a strong member of Gal culture, or one that would be a veteran player etc.

That describes the girl to a tee
The manga in question was "Haruyuki Bus Manga" it is one of a group of cute vignettes very suitable for young girls
