This is just a joke. Taking seriously as to say that PETA wants to ban pokemon is just being short sighted. They are trying to be hip by using pop/nerd culture to reach people who they can't by their usual campaigns.Do you honestly believe this?
Why wouldn't I?
I could tell you the exact same thing. DO you honestly believe they want people to stop playing pokemon because it's animal, albeit fake ones, cruelty?
Condescension can go both ways...

Normally when you make that argument it's because I said you couldn't... are you just posting for the sake of posting?

No. I'm just putting up an opinion without going in depth about how I support their cause but believe they go about it the wrong way. I mean, as previously mentioned, they attacked Mario and now Pokemon. When they do this, it just makes them look even worse than the people who actually commit animal abuse, which is a social taboo already. They're just beating a dead horse, in my opinion.

So an organization's actions against a franchise ≥ the actions of animal abuse?
Animal abuse is not a taboo and in some areas it is extremely accepted because it sometimes viewed as entertainment. For example dog/cock fighting, bull fighting, bear baiting, and so on.
The only reason why people care is because they grew up on the series, which they still play and will protect it.

What does that have to do with me or what I said? I didn't ask for your position, my statement doesn't indicate how you should feel about them, why are you reiterating your point to me, unless you're using my statement to make a general point to the rest of the public, in which case you aren't talking to me. So I ask again: are you just posting for the sake of posting?

I stand corrected because I'm not the best with explaining my reasons.
That’s out of context. I do not think animal abuse is of lesser importance than an organization's attack against a franchise. Animal abuse is wrong, in my opinion, and I do not support it.
No one can say it's the only reason why people care because, naturally, we associate with things that we a familiar with and can relate with our lives. There are many reasons people would lash out or criticize this, like it's overly graphic nature which, in a sense, kind of goes against the message they're trying to send.
The message is that people should stop violence against animals. What they try to do with this is make a mockery out of animal abuse, however it just presented distastefully so it comes off a bad rip off of Pokemon with an emphasis on violence. I don’t believe it was a good move; however they have certain points that are sometimes overlooked.
Something like this game is, to a degree, attacking a part of our culture (I italicized this because the culture varies depending on what group you choose to examine), which is why there is a backlash against it, just like Mario.
Yes, it is. However, you're right that it isn't viewed as a taboo by everyone. I hate watching it, but others do. It is generally a taboo in the U.S.A (which does vary depending on the state and prominent culture), however there are places globally that accept animal abuse.
I answered your question when I said “No.” It’s the first sentence of that post. I just didn't separate it from the rest of my post, which is directed at the general public. Sorry if you didn't pick up on that. How about I reiterate it?
NO!
