True, true. My first prone was a used old Siemens A40 while everyone else had Nokia 3410's. Bitch, I was the happiest little mother f*cker in the whole world when my dad took me to the used phone shop to get that phone. Same with many other things such as our 1st pc which was an old office pc with Windows 95. Pretty happy moment too. After that we got a little better, but I had to work a whole summer for my 1st own pc and I'm damn proud of it. Currently getting the money together for a car (still have much to collect...)

parents don't want to spank or yell at their kids because they probably were when they were younger. or they don't have the time to do it because their working all the time. or they just don't give a shit.

I can add to this, smacking/spanking/any form of physical discipline was made illegal here in the UK in 2005. But it's not considered illegal if they "mildly smack" ...whut?

I mean sure, the fact that some people don't know when to stop and it becomes abuse is bad. However most kids needs discipline. While some kids will never come out of it... At least they understand what is acceptable and whats not and what is crime and punishment.

I was smacked on rare occasions when I was younger 'cause I acted up quite a bit. To be perfectly honest, it was enough for me to stay on the straight and narrow.

My dad was a very easy man to anger.
