JRPGs in a nutshell but to be fair some developers are trying to make a good JRPG. Now some of them are trying to ship turds out to make money.

this trend has only started with the PS3. I do not know ANY bad JRPG before that.

no. PS2 was pretty much the Pinnacle. They had the technology to make aesthetically pleasing games and knew the mistakes of the past.
with the PS3 the market got Overblown. Every last damn person playing Angrybirds on their iCrap call themselves Gamer now.
the market s overblown, all that comes out now is the same crap in different colors.
best Example? Battlefield/CoD/Medal of Honor/Generic Semifuturistic Shooter XVII
you see "indie" games popping out of every corner (no seriously. Check the "Indie" tag on Steam and Tell me what is wrong with what you see.)

and 2 examples that I love to bring up on the topic of Good Games.
Shadow of the Colossos and Psychonauts. Both games were Praised beyond belief from magazines. 11/10 ratings.
They were heavily undersold.
But those games are actually GOOD (if you take into recognition that Ico and SotC were never meant to be publishable games. They were Homebrewed Games)

I look at most of the current releases and shake my head in disbelief.
