Oh boy... I sometimes hate being able to play guitar and piano. Our neighbor was bugging the hell out of me to play on the birthday party of his child. Normally I'd consider it, but I hate snotty little brats like the one next door!

Nope I just plain honestly told him, that I wouldn't play guitar for a little snotty child that hit's his teacher and has no art appreciation whatsoever. I don't care if I pissed him off, at least I was honest.
Seriously what some parents do these days when it comes to the discipline of their kids, or rather there lack of, is astonishing.

How come most parents are spoiling their child so much? That somehow irritates me.

Parents today (for the most part, not all) fallow on of 2 ideas. Give your kids more than you EVER DREAMED of having so maybe they will be happer than you are. Other one is "I want to be the cool parent and friends will all my kids friends so little johnny can do whatever he wants."

Well, I guess it is partly due to the fact that parents are "afraid" of the police these days. Speaking from a German point of view:
Most of the people here are carrying their noses way too high. It is a wonder that it ever rains on them to be honest. They like to middle in any and everything others do and begin to scream "Child violation" immediately as soon as a child get's a slap.
I am against violence against children, however I do think that a good smack every now and than can knock some sense into spoiled brats. The problem is that children these days become "aware of their rights" way earlier, means threatening their own parents by calling the police. Problem about that is quite a few parents (like our neighbor) basicly let their own kids blackmail them. Rather tell a snotty brat that incase it does want to call the police after a good smack it will end up in a random family, where it might get treated like shit.
The danish point of view on that is rather refreshing. As long as you don't repetitively hit your child or injure it, a smack isn't cared about by the authorities.
Anyways, enough rambling about that on my part. I don't have children and as that reminder saying goes: "The best captains always stand on the shore. "
