Well only thing I really know about chefs in combat situation is that all USMC personal including chefs are trained with rifle and when Navy boats are under combat situation even chef staff is armed so I really dunno about this in land operation... This is more for Kei.

@Anzei: Actually the rifle training is the easiest arms training. Pistol training is difficult. I can give you basic training but maybe given the circumstance we'll arm chefs with SMGs with Red dot. MP5 with Red dot is so simple to use that you can teach it to retarded half blind ape :)
