So long, Data.
So I just read about somebody who patented a wonderful idea for firearm safety. The title reads:
If the title wasn't already ridiculous enough. . . well, just look it up yourself.

And much more expensive to implement. Funding R&D for a transmitter that can be fitted into a bullet, making it 'cost-effective' to produce as well as enforcing the installation of such transmitters into firearms and ammunition including ones that are home reloaded. List goes on and in the end, you wouldn't really be that better off with it.
Not that it would ever become reality in the first place. The serialized firing pin seems like a more feasible idea than this but still that one is also a bad way to go.

Wow, the US Army is initiating it's third search for a new service pistol to replace the Beretta M9. Dubbed the Modular Handgun System, this is coming after the failed Joint Combat Pistol and Future Handgun System programs in 2005 and 2004 respectively.
Unlike the previous, this will be an open caliber competition to evaluate larger pistol rounds like .40 S&W or .45 ACP to name few. Considering they ordered about 100,000 new Beretta M9s two years ago, this program looks to be ending the same way as it's predecessors.
Well that aside, let's discuss what interesting pistols we may get to see join this contest. No doubt the big boys like H&K, FNH and S&W will be introducing a pistol or at least submitting an existing product. I liked the HK45 and FNP that was introduced for the JCP Program, I'm expecting good things from the two once again.

I agree. H&K and FN produce some pretty sexy pistols... I am also interested what will come up from the competition but I am sceptical to if they actually do change firearms... I am thinking about a possibility of CZ-USA going into the competition... I would find it quite funny and interesting at the same time. :D

Well I heard the Army was in contact with several of the firearm makers for a while now, I think they'll try getting as many of them on board as possible but I imagine a few, if not most, will be skeptical about the prospect.
Regardless, I'd like to see my favourite companies make a new pistol and release it to civilian market when the US Army cancels the program.
EDIT: So the US also has called for all F-35s to be grounded after one of theirs suffered a fire in it's engine during takeoff. They're investigating the cause and I can only assume that there's a defect that's present in most, if not all, units that warranted this.
Not very good for us considering the public was already pissed we spent over $12 billion to purchase almost a hundred of these, which we weren't even going to see in service till 2020 anyway.

That must suck... As much as F35 does look cool if it will have problems... It is a problem.
Also... Walther PS55 PointSight I think I'll buy this when I get to moding my VZ 58... Due my bad eyesight ironsights are not the best option... -.-

sarge told us that we are given AK-4s, dubbed "the paddle"That means you will get G3... I am envious. Big and heavy true (not to mention 7.62 NATO)... But they are great rifles. If I remember correctly they are the most used service rifle in the world even up to this day... If not sevice rifle then Battle rifle I am for sure. :D

The G3 is an excellent rifle with an extremely large family to boot. I would love to try me an HK21E if I ever had the chance. It definitely would be one of the most used battle rifles out there, FAL would be pretty close behind as well I imagine.
Back on the topic of pistols. American state Pennsylvania will be issuing SiG Sauer P227s to their State Police, replacing their standard issue Glock 37s. A good move, I would think, since I imagine .45 GAP isn't exactly the most logistical caliber to use.

I have some inside information and America might become a boiling point pretty soon... Some even talk about second Amrican civil war or the second revolution... I can't help but wonder...

I already thought it was a powder keg since late 20th Century. That aside, I can't imagine a full blown out civil war happening in America any time soon. If it does, I am sure there will have been foul play involved.
When it does happen, I can imagine it'll involve those idiotic open carry protesters who want to go around with their rifles in public. Get in a little scuffle with the cops at a store escalates until somebody gets shot and no one really knows who fired it but now tables have been turned and lead is being thrown across the room.
Seriously, those open carry protesters are real idiots.

I must say I am A-OK with open carry of handgun but what's the point of a rifle? Aside of whole "Yes because we can"...

I personally don't see where I will need to openly carry a rifle in my day to day life. My only need to have a firearm on my person is for self-defense and a handgun accommodates that just fine.
These protesters could easily do what they're doing with only handguns and they might even look more reasonable to the rest of the firearm community. I can only imagine they do this with rifles so they can have a larger impact(even though it is a negative one).
Moving on from that, what are people's thoughts on ROEs? Specifically the ones being used in Afghanistan which involves the piss long process of IDing a potential threat, running it along all manners of authority before being allowed to engage, if they haven't already. I think you can guess how I feel about it from that description.
