This is why i don't make friends with a lot of people.

Sup Bros,
Usually i try to avoid making posts like these in IB: because i don't think this is my personal blog. But i'm breaking my own rules, since something pretty ridiculous happened today. I was in class when i got a text from one of the girls i know at my college. The contents basically read "Something wrong?", I responded no. Anyhow apparently it was her birthday, and she said i should've at least posted something on her wall.
Arguing ensues, there is a surplus of butt hurt (on her end) and a severe deficit of fucks (on my head). All of this because i didn't check Facebook and post a really empty message on someone's wall. Personally i've never seen birthdays as something worth celebrating, it's been years since my last birthday party. I think the point of the text was i should've just acknowledged her birthday in some way, who knows.
That's about it, feel free to derail, but make it something worth derailing to.

Honestly, no one has any obligation to wish anyone a Happy Birthday. People who do so only do it because they WANT to, whether genuinely or to get something in return, it depends on the people involved. You're in the clear, Maj. She was being an attention whore.
Personally, I know a lot of the wishes I post on people's walls on FB can be hollow, but really, it's just a part of who I am. If I'm actually close to the person, I bother to wish. If I don't, no biggie. I never get any hate for it.

Usually if it's someone who i know to a certain extent then i'll reach out in some way. But she's basically just a peer at school. there's probably a dozen or more people on Fakku alone who know more about me then she does. If it's a close friend i'll usually call them. But yeah, i think i'm in the clear too. i'm pretty sure she's expecting an apology which she will not be getting.

Sounds like an attention whore. I only give really good friends happy birthday wishes... I don't really care if people don't wish me happy birthday. lol

Why do i have the impression that that girl might have some interest in you?::Shrugs:: I don't know, not really someone i'd want to be in a relationship with. There isn't a whole lot of intellectual stimulation there. it isn't relevant to her major though so i don't expect her to be Michio Kaku. But i'm not really in to talking about celebrities and gossip around the campus.

Maybe she doesn't have any other friends?Has like five hundred on face book, but a lot of people don't seem to be friends with a lot of their facebook friends.

Its kind of pompous to expect people you dont personally know to wish you happy birthday.Pretty much, i don't really see classmates as being anything more then that unless you hang out outside of the college.

I went to a birthday party yesterday and it was fun night.
Facebook "happy birthdays" are pretty useless. If you have their number, might as well call/text them happy birthday instead.

Yep, Facebook happy birthday wishes are pretty empty. Usually goes down like "Happy birthday!" / "have a good one!" and thats about it. Nothing really personal attached.
She is pretty audacious to text you that. Ignore it. Keep calm and carry on. (I've always wanted to say that.)

This makes me glad I deleted mine. Its one thing that she asked you about it, its something else entirely that she didn't just say it was her birthday but used a round about method by asking if something was wrong.
I make a point of remembering birthday's and information about people I talk to without relying on calendar's, facebook, etc. I removed the birthday info from my facebook just before my birthday to see if anyone memorized it and I think no one posted anything for my birthday.

Oh, wow... Suddenly I'm glad the few people I have added on that silly site are sane. I've pretty much given up on posting happy birthday messages, and luckily no-one bothers me about them either.

I personalise my happy birthday messages by replacing Happy and Birthday with made-up rhyming words. Le example - "Flappy smurfday". That's about it. Otherwise, I only say Happy birthday if I give a fuck, or I know them.
You seem to be dealing with an Annoying Facebook Girl, so that could be why an arguement ensued over not checking Facebook.

The only people I expect to remember my birthday and give a shit about it is my grandmother and my boyfriend. Any extras are just bonuses.
I would've told the bitch she was crazy, and stopped talking to her. That just sounds so... spoiled-brat. I mean, really? You have to passive-aggressively send a text message just to totally lose your shit about a birthday greeting?
I don't play nice with girls like that. The ones who expect lip service as offerings to maintain a completely superficial friendship. There is no point, and for it I have no fucking patience.
