Today I finally beat any Touhou game without using a continue. It was Ten Desires, on easy. Now to do it again with every other character
Which character did you use ?
You must exploit the trance system to finish Ten Desires with ease, it's the reason why TD is comparable to IN in term of being the friendliest.
Reimu. Trance system? I noticed Imperishable Night was almost too easy on my first try. Made it to the end then died on the first try with Remilia.

Long story short, Trance is the state you can assume manually whenever those 3 souls in the bottom left of your screen are filled completely. It grants you a brief invulnerability and advanced-shot type.
The only downside is, you cannot death-bomb when those souls are filled (if I recall correctly), but in exchange for that, the Trance will take over and you will be granted the usual invulnerability, though you will still die in the end of Trance.
Yes, IN is relatively easier than the most of Touhou installments, and TD seems to adopt its friendly-manner. Most likely because SA and UFO were too hard.

Oh so thats what that thing is. Never knew you can do it without getting hit first. Is it supposed to be a really long thing? I got like 6 seconds of it in the last TD boss which was long compared to the usual 2 or 3. A couple of times I got a life back after clearing a spellcard in trance. Are those coincidences?
Yes. SA was murder. Not going back to that one until TD and IN are thoroughly beaten.

If my memory doesn't fail me, the maximum Trance's duration is 9 seconds. Its duration depends on how many souls did you fill before you activate the Trance, be it manually or automatically(death). Let's just consider one soul is equal to 3 seconds Trance.
and no, I forgot to mention that Trance will double your gain.
Let's just say an enemy gave you one purple (life) soul. If you take it while in normal mode, you will gain 1 additional point to your life's, but if you take it while you are in Trance mode, you will gain 2 additional points. This is partially why I suggested you to exploit Trance.

[font=Cirno][h2]The Scarlet Moon last night was tainted in the blood of one of my friends. He died while in active duty... He was the same age as me, 21.
Now, that's some ominous omen...

So there was a second "bailout" option of sorts. That's just great to know after losing all but one life to the last boss and last spell in that playthough after getting that far without taking a hit. Thanks for the info. I will have to give it a shot. In terms of increasing difficulty after IN and TD, what game comes next?
Zandorf, that is one really interestingly timed moon. My condolences.

Avoid triggering the Trance by dying if possible. Godspeed in normal.
Hum, your mileage may vary, but I believe either EoSD/MoF are one step above IN/TD in term of difficulty. After that, you may proceed to PCB or UFO. Personally, I do consider SA to be the hardest considering its mechanic which doesn't seem to stick well with my preferences.

Aye, they are still doing the translation up until now. I suppose every character's entries in wiki will be updated little by little. Like for example, this one.
Unrelated note : I love Koishi's appearance there, and her bio is just like what I expected. Me likey.
Considering how thick the book is, let's just be patient together.

That said, this book really has lots of interesting things like human threat and relationship levels for all new cast, and so on.
