windows upgrade is inevitable

I have upgraded 3 versions of DOS then windows 3.1 (31 floppys thank you) to windows 95 then 98 then 98SE then 2000 then XP then Vista
This shows mans ever continuing quest for something better to happen
Very much like pressing that stupid button to get a walk Light on the traffic light
However even the dimmest of us ME <~~~ realizes that it never gets better Microsoft just gets richer and keeps telling us to BUY as the new version is improved.
Remember Vista and WOW?
I still have XP, because of all of them, it is the better of the choices. But am seriously considering Ubuntu and getting out of the hamster( Lemming?) cage

I still have currently XP on my computer and will likely continue to have it for several more years.

Lol inevitable? XP is still better than vista and 7.Depends on the version to be honest. If you're using an n-lited XP x64 install, it outdoes Windows 7 by a small margin (so long as you don't go over 12gb of ram). if it's x86 you're limited to 4gb of ram which usually turns out to be abround 3.15gb - 3.5gb after some of it is reserved for system usage.
Windows 7 can beat Windows XP in most areas of the playing field when it comes to performance (including boot times) and has a nice GUI. UAC can be easily turned off and it's a fairly simple task to enable the administrator account, so there aren't actually a lot of dialog pop-ups.

Wisdom has shone on me. The only real reason I said XP is superior is because old graphic cards (such as mine) can have quite a number of problems when running 7, which was what ended up happening to me.

Vista 64 is decent, I don't know what everyone's been bitching about. XP is horribly outdated and Win 7 is a waste of money for the minimal improvements.

I've seen Win7 running on GeForce2 (though it was slower than XP), so I doubt older graphic card is an issue with them.
And I set up FFVII on it even faster than on XP, which was lulzworty.

Indeed, I can understand the opinions of XP vs 7, but Vista is junk, and always has been.

I'm not saying that Windows 7 isn't better than Vista, but 64 bit with decent hardware runs fine and works well, and I'm not spending hundreds of pounds on something which performs slightly better under x circumstances. Indexing alone is a good enough reason to ditch XP.

Enjoy your backdoors and botnet. :) It came with the PC anyway, I make do to an extent but I certainly don't dislike it, and I do prefer it to XP.
